Espresso Displays has a new portable pro-level monitor

Espresso Displays has a new pro-grade portable monitor on offer

At CES 2025, Australia-based Espresso Displays has expanded its product portfolio with a new portable monitor aimed at the mobile professional.

The new espresso 15 Pro is a 15.6-inch USB-C monitor with 550 nits to brightness and 4K resolution. It has dual USB-C input ports and measures in at only 9mm thick.

It works as a touchscreen for both Windows and macOS-based machines. The brand also touts compatibility with iPhone, iPad, and Samsung DeX devices.

When used with the espresso Pen, the new screen can be used as a note taking device, as well as sketching and marking up documents.

Open laptop and vertical tablet on a white desk connected by a purple cable, displaying abstract purple and orange wallpapers. The espresso 15 Pro can magnetically connect to the stand in landscape or vertical orientation

The display itself is crafted from matte-black aluminum and has a magnetic stand. The stand is highly adjustable and can even rotate vertically.

"espresso 15 Pro is designed for business travelers, professionals on the go, and people seeking a high-performance tool to help them achieve their best wherever they need to work," said espresso CEO Will Scuderi.

The new espresso 15 Pro's launch date and pricing will be revealed within the coming months. AppleInsider previously reviewed the espresso 17 Pro, and we found it fun to use, with a wide feature set.

What a waste of plastic and metal for anyone who already has an iPad …like most of us in here.

Except it's 15" and 4K there's no iPad that comes even close to that resolution at any price.  And I bet it'll be cheaper than an iPad Pro 13".

I have an Espresso Pro 17 as well as a 13" iPad Pro. They each serve a very different purpose and I, for one, aren't giving up either.

I've had a number of Espresso displays (as well as several other portable monitor brands). The ONLY thing I don't like about Espresso Displays is the magnetic stands. Need idea, but really hard to adjust like you want and stay stable.

Have you really tried this comparison irl for the described use case ”portable monitor aimed at the mobile professional”?

I can tell you the 264 ppi (iPad Pro) vs 137 ppi (Espresso) outweighs the extra pixels of the 4K since it requires about twice the viewing distance.

And with the iPad, you have a much more portable unit to carry around. And it’s way thinner. And it’s brighter. And it’s got a better stand. And it’s battery powered. And, as stated in my comment, you already own it.
