Satechi has revealed the release date of its Mac mini Stand & Hub for the M4 Mac mini, with it available starting in February.

Shortly after the introduction of the M4 Mac mini, Satechi announced it will roll out a new version of its Mac mini Stand & Hub for the pint-sized model. At CES, it finally revealed more information, including pricing and availability details.

The Mac mini Stand & Hub is a compact addition designed to fit underneath the Mac mini. The plinth connects to one of the Thunderbolt ports using USB-C, and provides users a selection of extra ports, on top of the Mac mini's existing selection.

This includes a trio of USB-A ports at the front, including two running at up to 10Gbps using USB 3.2, as well as a USB 2.0 port. The front also has an SD card reader capable of transfer speeds of up to 312MB/s.

The base also includes space for an NVMe drive, with support for up to 4TB of capacity. This effectively allows users to expand the storage, without needing another enclosure for a drive.

Around the back, a part of the aluminum enclosure has been carved out so users can easily press the power button on the base of the Mac mini.

Satechi will start selling the Mac mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure with limited availability from February 17, priced at $99.99. Full availability is expected in March.

I wonder if it's going to Wi-Fi tank performance, like the other docs and accessories are doing to the M4 mini. I would not buy this until I saw reviews.

I’m disappointed that the SSD is limited to 4TB, as most of the similar offeringS allow up to an 8TB SSD.

Regarding the front USB-A 10Gbps connectivity - perhaps I’m too old and can’t keep up but sure thought we were moving away from USB-A and avoiding which side up? Why are these not USB-C?

It’s a USB dock or hub and is designed for people who have USBA peripherals. There’s a lot of them.

If people want to use USBC peripherals, there are already 5 of them on a Mac mini with 2 of them in the front.

It will probably be another 20 years before these USB hubs/docks come without USBA ports. USBA may be around for another 50 years, perhaps more.

Worse, it is speed constrained to max 10Gbps. Not Thunderbolt I suppose.
