The iPhone 17 Pro line will have quite a few generational improvements according to one leaker, including a brighter display and its longest battery life yet.
Barely a week before Apple's September 9 launch of its annual iPhone refresh, the rumor mill is still trying to nail down some of the changes we should expect. One leaker focuses on the iPhone 17 Pro lineup, and some of its inbound quality-of-life improvements.
According to serial Weibo leaker "Instant Digital" on Wednesday, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will have a much better display brightness. It is claimed that it will be able to be seen "in the summer sun" for long periods of time.
The leaker doesn't say how bright it will go, but the current iPhone 16 Pro generation can get to a peak of 2,000 nits.
Continuing the display talk, Instant Digital adds the screen will have a frame rate that is more stable for gaming. Thermal management will also be an improvement, with little gaming lag expected from heat.
The account adds that the performance will also help improve the camera system. The new version is said to be better at shooting 4K-resolution footage at 60 frames per second "outdoors in summer."
This should mean it will be better at handing the increased temperatures of high-resolution, high frame rate video for longer periods.
A bumper battery
Instant Digital rounds out their claims by discussing the battery. With more efficient power usage, combined with a larger capacity, it is expected that the iPhone 17 Pro will have the longest battery life of any iPhone.
This is far from the first time that the battery has been discussed. In August, a leaker posted what they believed was the battery for the iPhone 17 Air, but later corrected the claim to insist it was for the iPhone 17 Pro.
Rumors have previously said that the iPhone 17 Pro Max's battery could be 5,000mAh or more. For reference, the battery inside the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 4,685mAh.
Weibo leakers like Instant Digital don't tend to have great track records when it comes to rumors. Due to the popularity of the accounts, there is a tendency for this category of leakers to repost rumors found elsewhere online in high quantities, which negatively affects the quality of the leaks.
