James Corden and Ruth Jones have signed a multi-million-dollar deal to make the follow-up to Gavin and Stacey' for Apple TV+.
The British comedy "Gavin and Stacey" concluded in December 2024, leaving fans of the show waiting for the spiritual successor. It seems that Apple will be financing what comes next.
The creators of the show, James Corden and Ruth Jones, have reportedly landed a new deal to bring a project to Apple TV+, instead of their usual home of the UK's BBC.
The pair were convinced to do so as part of a deal valued at around 8 million pounds ($10.8 million), sources of the Sun claim. Apple wasn't the only bidders, as the BBC, Netflix, and Amazon Prime also allegedly wanted to buy the show.
Corden's existing relationship with Apple TV+, in part through holding the rights to "Carpool Karaoke," helped Apple land the deal.
The details of the project are unknown, but that it will be a ten-episode production filmed in the UK. Casting has yet to start, but it is again expected to be an all-British show again.
Despite being the follow-on project, it won't be using the same characters as "Gavin and Stacey," with the aim of allowing an international audience enjoy the work.
It remains to be seen if Corden and Jones will appear in character for the new show. Under the BBC's project, they played "Smithy" and "Nessa," who married in the finale.
