Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for its five-part documentary series about filmmaker Martin Scorsese, giving a first glimpse of his philosophy of film.

Following the announcement that writer/director Rebecca Miller has made a documentary series about Scorsese, a new official trailer has him speaking about his motivation. The trailer is comprised of excerpts from his most famous films, both as an actor and a director, accompanied by his voiceover.

"Are we intrinsically good or evil?" he says. "This is the struggle, and I struggle with it all the time."

"I knew I could express myself with pictures," he continues, "but I had to find my own way."

The trailer also reveals that very many of Scorsese's collaborators are included in the documentary. Jodie Foster, Spike Lee, Cate Blanchette, and Robert de Niro.

"This project is a filmmaker's dream, to have had such access to legends of the industry, from Marty himself to his prolific collaborators, close friends and family members," said documentary director Miller when the project was first announced. "I was honored he trusted me to create this documentary, which I believe will resonate with everyone from dedicated Scorsese fans to anyone who has grappled with failure and reached for stars."

The five-part "Mr. Scorsese" series begins streaming on Apple TV+ from October 17. Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon" movie is streaming on Apple TV+ now.
