Apple is eyeing another big-screen adventure, developing a film adaptation of the Dark Horse comic "Last Flight Out" with "The Last Frontier" director Sam Hargrave in talks to lead.
Following the success of the Apple TV series "The Last Frontier," Apple and Hargrave may be teaming up again, this time for a feature-length project based on Marc Guggenheim's critically acclaimed graphic novel "Last Flight Out", illustrated by Eduardo Ferigato.
In "Last Flight Out," it is 2055, Earth is a dying planet, and humanity's last hope is a mass exodus to the stars. The story follows Dr. Ben Caewood, the lead scientist who developed the "arks" that will transport the survivors.
With less than 24 hours until the final ark departs forever, Ben discovers that his daughter, Sara, has gone missing.
In true apocalyptic drama style, Dr. Caewood must navigate a lawless and chaotic world to get her aboard before the eponymous last flight out.
According to Deadline Apple secured the project in a seven-figure deal and will develop it alongside Chernin Entertainment. Hargrave, best known for his work on Netflix's "Extraction" films, is currently in talks to direct.
Guggenheim will pen the screenplay. Chernin Entertainment's Peter Chernin and David Ready, along with Dark Horse Entertainment's Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg, are set to produce.
Apple TV+ has recently undergone a bit of subtle rebranding. In mid-October, the company nixed the "+" at the end of the service, renaming it, somewhat confusingly, to Apple TV.
