Japan's Issey Miyake fashion house and Apple have launched a stretched sock-like accessory for the iPhone, which can act as a bag or a shoulder strap.
The fashion house is named for the late Issey Miyake, the designer responsible for Steve Jobs's famous black turtleneck. This new collaboration between the fashion house and Apple sees them producing a brightly colored range of the new iPhone Pocket accessory.
"Apple and ISSEY MIYAKE share a design approach that celebrates craftsmanship, simplicity, and delight," Molly Anderson, Apple's vice president of Industrial Design, said in a statement. "This clever extra pocket exemplifies those ideas and is a natural accompaniment to our products."
The iPhone Pocket is a single, elongated piece of cloth with provides a pouch in the middle for the iPhone. The pouch is designed so that the iPhone's cameras can still be seen, although that's more an aesthetic choice than a practical one.
"The color palette of iPhone Pocket was intentionally designed to mix and match with all our iPhone models and colors -allowing users to create their own personalized combination," continued Anderson. "Its recognizable silhouette offers a beautiful new way to carry your iPhone, AirPods, and favorite everyday items."
According to Apple, the central idea came from a concept described as just "a piece of cloth." The fashion house and the Apple Design Studio worked together to make the Pocket from what's called a 3D-knitted construction.
All knitting is 3D, but the term has a specific meaning in textile manufacturing. A 3D knitting machine will take a continuous thread of material and fashion the design from overlapping loops.
Compared to traditional knitting, it means no cutting, and it also means no wasted materials. It also means that the final product is created from a single piece of material.
"The design of iPhone Pocket speaks to the bond between iPhone and its user, while keeping in mind that an Apple product is designed to be universal in aesthetic and versatile in use," said Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director of Miyake Design Studio. "iPhone Pocket explores the concept of 'the joy of wearing iPhone in your own way.'"
Apple says that the iPhone Pocket is a limited edition that comes in two lengths. The short strap-like version costs $149.95 and comes these colors:
- Lemon
- Mandarin
- Purple

The long version is limited to sapphire, cinnamon, and black versions. It retails for $229.95.
Apple's announcement says that the two editions will be available from November 14, 2025, but they are starting to appear on the US and UK online Apple Store. They will not be available worldwide, but the instead "at select Apple Store locations" and the online apple.com in these countries:
