Belkin has issued a recall of three of its portable power banks and wireless charging stands due to faulty lithium ion batteries. Here's how to see if your unit is impacted, and what to do if you have a recalled model.
Belkin's notice covers roughly 83,500 units in the United States and another 2,385 in Canada. The chargers were sold between August 2020 and August 2025 at major retailers like Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Belkin's own website.
Regulators confirmed one fire incident in the United States, along with fifteen cases internationally. Two minor burn injuries occurred outside the country, alongside nearly $38,000 in property damage.
Which Belkin products are affected
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled products immediately and check the label on the bottom or back of the device to confirm the model and serial number.
Model numbers appear as MMA008, BPB002, or PB0003. The serial number is a 14 digit code printed on the product.
- MMA008 wireless charging stand, only units with serial numbers starting with "57X"
- BPB002 power bank, only units with serial numbers starting with "35S"
- PB0003 power bank, all serial numbers
The MMA008 wireless stand lists its information on the underside of the base. Both power banks, BPB002 and PB0003, print their labels on the back.
What to do if you own a recalled Belkin charger
If the model matches and your serial number falls in the affected range, Belkin considers the unit unsafe to continue using.
Stop using the product right away and disconnect it from the wall, then begin the refund process. Belkin is offering either a cash refund or store credit.
If you have a receipt, the refund covers the full purchase amount. Without a receipt, Belkin will issue the average selling price for that model, or optional store credit worth 20% more than the average price.
The company requires customers to upload photos of the product, showing the front, back, and serial number. Belkin has set up dedicated recall pages for the MMA008, BPB002, and PB0003.
These can be accessed through the "Product Recalls" link at the bottom of Belkin's website. Each page walks users through the submission steps and explains how to receive a refund or credit.
You can reach Belkin's support team at 800-223-5546 between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Recall instructions are posted at belkin.com/MMA008recall and belkin.com/BPB002recall.
The main site lists all active notices under the "Product Recalls" link at the bottom of belkin.com.
Proper disposal of recalled lithium ion batteries
Recalled lithium ion devices should never be thrown in the trash or dropped in standard recycling bins. Household waste facilities usually have specific procedures for damaged or recalled batteries.
Local municipal programs can advise on drop off locations that accept lithium ion batteries and small electronics for safe disposal.
Lithium ion batteries can sometimes fail when they overheat. Anyone using older or off brand power banks should keep an eye out for swelling, heat, or odor, and replace aging gear before it puts their home at risk.
