ShiftCam is using CES 2026 to push the iPhone further into serious video production with a new ProRig filming cage and magnetic filter system.

For iPhone users who are serious about shooting video with their smartphone, the announcement targets real limits around mounting, power, storage, and optics. Apple's steady expansion of Pro video features has increased demand for hardware that treats the iPhone as a primary camera.

The products focus on recent iPhone Pro models and external accessories rather than casual shooting. The scope reflects Apple's continued push to position the iPhone for creator and production workflows.

ProRig expands physical control for iPhone video

ProRig is a metal filming cage designed for iPhone 15 through iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. ShiftCam says interchangeable inserts allow one frame to support multiple generations.

The cage includes three cold shoes, multiple tripod mounts, and a slide-lock design that keeps USB-C and MagSafe accessible. The layout supports external SSD recording and continuous power during longer shoots.

Shiftcam also includes two detachable Bluetooth shutter remotes that can mount on either side or operate off-rig. The design caters to solo shooters who need physical controls without touching the iPhone.

ProRig supports ShiftCam's S-mount lenses, positioning the cage around third-party optics instead of Apple's built-in system. Apple's Camera app already supports external storage recording on compatible iPhones, which aligns with the hardware approach.

Magnetic filter system targets mobile optics gaps

ShiftCam also introduced a magnetic, stackable filter system built around a 72 mm standard. The larger diameter is intended to reduce vignetting on wide-angle iPhone lenses.

Available filters include a CPL, variable ND options covering 1-5 stops and 6-10 stops, and a Black Mist filter. ShiftCam says the filters use cinema-grade glass with multi-layer coatings, though real-world results will matter more than specifications.

An elevated adapter keeps the MagSafe area usable while filters are attached. The design acknowledges how many iPhone users rely on MagSafe batteries or mounts during extended shoots.

Apple doesn't support physical filters out of the box, so third-party gear has stepped in. The approach suggests more creators are treating the iPhone as a main camera, not a backup.

ShiftCam says ProRig and the magnetic filter system will be shown throughout CES 2026, with pricing and availability details to be announced later in 2026.
