Samsung Display briefly displayed a creaseless foldable OLED panel at CES, that is very likely to be the one that will be used in the iPhone Fold.

Apple was said to have developed its own crease-proof folding display. However, reports in July 2025 claimed it would use a Samsung design instead — and that design may now have been unveiled.

According to SamMobile, Samsung is showcasing its first crease-less OLED panel at CES 2026. The company has a "Crease Test" area in its CES booth, pitting the new display against existing foldable OLED panels.

The company is not discussing when the panel will go on sale, or in what smartphones it will be used. The expectation, however, is that it will be used by Samsung itself in the forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, due to launch in the second half of 2026.

Given how rumors have dovetailed about the two devices, it is also probably the same panel that will be used in Apple's expected iPhone Fold, due in September 2026. Neither Apple nor Samsung will comment, but revealing the panel now matches rumors that Samsung's screen is ready for mass production.

Samsung Display claims that the new foldable screen shows no visible crease whatsoever. It's said that the new screen uses a laser-drilled metal display plate, which disperses the stresses in folding the screen.

This same technology is said to also prolong the life of the screen. Durability and a total absence of a crease would be strong marketing points.

Apple is unlikely to publicly credit Samsung Display with the technology, but supply chain data has always been clear about who makes Apple's screens. Consequently it may never be confirmed by Apple that the company is using this same crease-less OLED panel, but teardowns will tell the tale.

However, it was reported back in July 2025 that it is Samsung that has built a new production line specifically for the iPhone Fold's screen.

Since discovery, Samsung has removed the screen from its display at CES.
