On this week's episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, Garrett Lovejoy joins to talk about smart locks, Aliro, and shared living communities.
Guest host this week is Garrett Lovejoy. He serves as SVP and General Manager of Connected Security at Fortune Brands and Innovations, overseeing product lines such as Yale.
He's been at the company for years, starting with more professional security devices, before moving over to consumer-facing residential ones. It's a fast-moving time as new technologies are going mainstream, such as Thread, Matter, and soon — Aliro.
Ahead of the interview with Garrett, we hopped into the news. It was a relatively light week, as we're still in the relatively quiet period after the January CES.
First up, Eve has updated its retrofit MotionBlinds product. There is a new, smaller size for those who already have shades installed with a thinner rod.
This new model is launching first in Europe, before eventually coming to the U.S. There is currently no release date for the U.S.
Ikea has also responded to the connection issues plaguing its Matter over Thread devices. The statement says, in short, that it is aware of the issues and is working too address them.
Finally, SwitchBot has announced an updated version of its table air purifier. It has the same specs as the existing model, but now comes in an all-wood finish.
