Apple has started a brand new generation of developer betas, with iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, visionOS 26.4, and macOS Tahoe 26.4 expected to include a Siri update.

Following the release of the 26.3 generation of updates, Apple has moved on to the version 26.4 updates. That means a brand new collection of developer beta builds it is sharing for testing.

The developer betas for iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, visionOS 26.4, and macOS Tahoe 26.4 arrive after the previous generation, which consisted of three developer betas and release candidates, which Apple handed out on February 4.

Apple released the 26.3 generation updates to the public on February 11.

The new beta may be a hefty download for some, but not for others. Among AppleInsider editorial members, the iOS 26.4 build size varies, but with some reporting 8-gigabyte downloads while others face bigger 18-gigabyte builds.

  • iOS 26.4 build 1 is 23E5207q, replacing 23D125
  • iPadOS 26.4 build 1 is 23E5207q, replacing 23D125
  • watchOS 26.4 build 1 is 23T5209m, replacing 23S618
  • visionOS 26.4 build 1 is 23O5209m, replacing 23N619
  • tvOS 26.34 build 1 is 23L5208m, replacing 23K619
  • macOS Tahoe 26.4 build 1 is 25E5207k, replacing 25D122

While it is still too early to determine the actual content of the builds, a hot contender based on rumors, speculation, and code references is for Apple to finally debut a new Siri. Following a deal to use Google Gemini, the next version could finally include contextual functionality it promised back in WWDC 2024 and in a controversial video ad.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly advise that users don't install beta operating systems or beta software onto what they deem "mission-critical" or primary-use hardware. Instead, they should retain backups of their data and try to use secondary hardware that isn't as essential to maintain.

For general users wanting a less risky experience, Apple typically brings out a public beta version of its updates shortly after the developer counterpart. A more battle-hardened version of the update, with potentially fewer bugs or issues, it is the version that interested members of the public should try, not the developer build.
