Beats and Nike's hardware partnership puts branding front and center, adding logos, colors, and messaging while leaving the underlying earbud technology unchanged.

The limited-edition Powerbeats Pro 2 marks Beats' first hardware partnership. The release leans on design and marketing, even as it ties more closely into Apple's fitness ecosystem.

Beats announced the collaboration on March 17. The company describes it as a crossover between sports, culture, and performance while keeping the underlying earbuds unchanged.

The Nike Special Edition Powerbeats Pro 2 features a Nike Swoosh on one earbud and the Beats logo on the other. The design pairs Nike's "Volt" accents with a matte black charging case, with a "JUST DO IT" slogan inside the lid reinforcing the collaboration.

Beats positions the release as more than a new color, but the changes remain cosmetic. There are no new sensors, no revised audio system, and no meaningful hardware shift to separate it from the standard model.

Powerbeats Pro 2 keeps the same core specs under the Nike design

Under the Nike branding, the Powerbeats Pro 2 remains the same product at its core. Apple's H2 chip powers the earbuds, bringing adaptive active noise canceling, transparency mode, and Adaptive EQ.

Heart rate monitoring continues to anchor the fitness angle, feeding real-time data into compatible apps and Apple's Fitness ecosystem. It works across dozens of workout types and can be disabled, but its role here is unchanged.

Battery life remains rated at up to 45 hours with the charging case, with up to 10 hours from the earbuds themselves. The case supports wireless charging and USB-C, and fast charging delivers about 1.5 hours of playback from a short top-up.

The earbuds keep their IPX4 sweat and water resistance and use a redesigned nickel-titanium earhook for a lighter, more secure fit. On-device controls, improved call microphones, and support for Apple and Android devices remain the same.

The collaboration works best as a branding move rather than a product update. Beats gains cultural reach by aligning more closely with Nike, while Nike enters consumer hardware without taking on engineering or manufacturing.

Apple benefits on both fronts, as integration with Fitness and Nike Run Club keeps users inside its health ecosystem while the co-branding expands visibility. The product looks new, but it reinforces what already exists instead of pushing anything forward.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 - Nike Special Edition is coming out on March 20. You can grab them for $249.99 through Apple and Nike channels, including some Apple Store locations around the world.
