Luxury accessory maker Hermes has announced a new iPhone and Apple Watch charger with its own case for an eye-watering price of $5,150.
If that figure sounds like a lot to pay for a charger, consider this. You could buy eight $599 MacBook Neo laptops (check prices) and still have money left over for a new Apple Watch instead.
Alternatively, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is the most costly thing you'll charge with this thing. You could buy four $1,199 256GB iPhone 17 Pro Maxes and still have money left over for a new case. And AppleCare+.
The Paddock Duo charger can power two devices at once and comes with its own Grand Paddock case. But you'll need to supply your own $20ish 20-watt USB-C charger, as Hermes doesn't include one with your purchase.
The good news? You can save some money by choosing the Paddock Solo, which charges a single device. It comes with its own, smaller Paddock case.
Even that model comes with a $3,725 price tag.
Priceless charging
Diving into the specs, the Paddock Duo charger comes in Gold Swift calfskin. There's no cheap, shiny plastic here.
Hermes also says that the calfskin has been saddle-stitched, and I have to admit it looks to be a quality job. The photos show a space for placing an iPhone or a pair of AirPods on one side, and an Apple Watch or AirPods on the other.
Your new charger comes with its own case, perfect for traveling
The Grand Paddock case offers a place to store the Paddock Duo when it isn't being used, like when traveling. It'll look right at home on in the cargo hold of your private yet.
As you'd expect, the Grand Paddock is also finished in Gold Swift calfskin. The case also has a space to stow the charger's cable so it doesn't just flap around like normal chargers. That just wouldn't do, especially not at this price point.
You'll also be able to store your USB-C charger here, too. But, again, you'll need to buy one for yourself because Hermes doesn't supply one.
A zip holds the whole thing closed during transit, and there's an internal storage pocket. The photos appear to show one of Hermes' Apple Watch bands as an example of the kind of thing you can store. I'm sure a Nike Sport Band will fit just fine, too.
