How to turn off Home Switching in the iOS 17.6 Home app

The Home Switching option in the Home app

Apple's update to iOS 17.6 is turning Home Switching on, when it was previously off, for some users. Here's how to turn that Home setting back off.

Smart home owners may have discovered a problem with their HomeKit installation after making the update to iOS 17.6. For users with multiple Homes set up on their devices, they may find that a setting that was turned off has been turned back on.

The Home app allows users to set up multiple Homes, and for the user to switch between them if necessary. This can be useful for a number of reasons, including Homes for multiple physical locations, as well as to separate devices within the app.

Normally, the Home app will switch between the active Home on behalf of the user, but some may prefer to do this manually. This is especially the case when there are multiple Home configurations on a network.

There is an option to disable the automatic switching, and users often do this in cases where multiple Home setups are in play. Under iOS 17.6, this setting has been changed to be on for many users, meaning they have to turn it back off once again.
