I hope Apple doesn't discontinue the iPad mini. It isn't about cost, but form factor. While I prefer the 'normal' size, a LOT of people like the mini. It's perfect for my son, and my wife uses her's to replace a Kindle plus much more (but wouldn't be happy with bigger).
steve jobs said he announced the iphone in january (6 mths early) so the iphone wouldn't leak from FCC filings. it had nothing to do with supply chain concerns.
