AppleInsider Podcast interviews Deirdre Leid from Pioneer, and talks CES

Last updated

On this week's AppleInsider Podcast, Victor interviews Deirdre Leid of Pioneer about using Lightning for headphones and the advantages it brings, and catches up with Mike about the weird and wonderful things from CES 2018.

In this hour, AppleInsider editors Victor Marks and Mike Wuerthele discuss:

  • HomeKit at CES, and the increase in it - Victor's seeing the HomeKit space mature as home security becomes a focus.
  • AirPlay2 is still MIA, and the best we know is that there are manufacturers that want it as much as we do.
  • Alpine addresses the single DIN-big screen need for CarPlay with aplomb
  • Deirdre Leid from Pioneer joins us to speak about what happens when getting rid of the headphone jack is a Good Thing.

Give the man some time off!

He's traveling. When he comes back to the US, he'll be back on, I promise!

The Pioneer mic solutions sound nice, but I assume they'd work just fine on my iPhone SE *with* it's 3.5mm jack. Seems like we could have the best of both worlds.

These seem to be the Pioneer products referenced in the podcast interview:

I suppose they'd be OK for iPhone only people, but I'd rather not be limited to a non-standard connector.
