Over the weekend, Apple finalized a deal for a sci-fi comedy-drama series produced by and starring Andy Samberg, with Ben Stiller attached as a producer.
Details of the upcoming Apple TV+ original are unknown, but The Hollywood Reporter notes the project is based on an idea from "BoJack Horseman" creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg.
Andy Siara, who worked with Samberg on Netflix's "Palm Springs," is set to write the script and executive produce. Recent awards show buzz over the comedy feature collaboration generated interest in the pair's as-yet-untitled sci-fi series, the report said.
Stiller will produce alongside Nicky Weinstock through Red Hour, while Noah Hawley and Dan Seligmann will produce via 26 Keys. Bob-Waksberg also produces. Hawley has written and produced several critically acclaimed projects, including "Bones," "Legion," and "My Generation," and won Golden Globe and Emmy awards for his work on "Fargo."
Apple TV+ is slowly gaining steam after getting off to a rocky start in 2019. The streaming service has a core slate of shows like "The Morning Show," "For All Mankind," and "Ted Lasso," and is quickly building out its catalog with series commitments and one-off purchases.

If this is even half as entertaining as Brooklyn 9-9, Apple has a winner on its hands.
Might be good, but I’m still canceling my Apple TV+ subscription. The offerings in general still suck and the ones which are interesting are not must see TV.
Not much of a fan of either Stiller or Samberg as I see them and their comedy as pretty much one-note performances. However, I do find Samberg's performance in Nine-Nine acceptable, but in no small part thanks to an excellent supporting cast.
That said, I enjoy much of ATV+ and it's money well spent for me. Like any network, there is fare that doesn't appeal to me, but there is enough and that's all that need concern me.
Samberg has been pretty solid so far, Stiller has been pretty hit & miss IMO. Will be interested to see how it turns out... if I ever subscribe to TV+ that is.
