Apple Original films pick up six Critics Choice Awards nominations, including Best Picture

Apple TV+ films "CODA" and "The Tragedy of Macbeth" have picked up six Critics Choice Film Award nominations, bringing the streaming service's total Critics Choice Award nominations to 15.

As award season kicks into gear, Apple has racked up six new nominations for its films, this time from the Critics Choice Association.

Critically acclaimed "CODA" picked up four nominations in the following categories:

  • Best Picture
  • Best Supporting Actor - Tory Kotsur
  • Best Adapted Screenplay - Sian Heder
  • Best Young Actor/Actress - Emilia Jones

"CODA" has also been nominated for two Golden Globe awards this year, and nine Hollywood Critics Association Film Awards.

"The Tragedy of Macbeth," a stylized retelling of the Shakespearian classic, also picked up two nominations:

  • Best Actor - Denzel Washington
  • Best Cinematography - Bruno Delbonnel

The film was also named as a 2021 AFI Award honoree in early December.

The winners will be revealed on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

In addition to film nominations, Six different Apple TV+ originals have earned the Apple streaming platform a total of nine award nominations in the 27th Annual Critics Choice TV Awards.
