Canon has launched the large-format imagePROGRAF TC-20 desktop printer that can handle single-page printouts of up to 23.4 inches by 33.1 inches, or on a near-infinite scale with rolls of paper.
Aimed at education, hospitality, office, and related markets, the imagePROGRAF TC-20 supports printing 100 A4 sheets (8.3 inches by 11.7 inches) or 50 A3 (11.7 inches by 16.5 inches) sheets of paper continuously. For printing survey drawings, construction materials, and similar use cases, it also supports roll paper for paper sizes beyond 23.4 inches by 33.1 inches.
Canon imagePROGRAF TC-20 specs
Canon calls it a "compact printer" that can fit onto a desk or shelf for convenience and to save space.
It features new 70-milliliter pigment ink bottles in four colors (BK/C/M/Y) that can reproduce fine lines and small characters in detail. Canon designed the ink bottles in different shapes to reduce errors when refilling, and there is a mechanism that helps prevent ink spills.
With the Canon Print Inkjet/SELPHY app available on the App Store, users can check the remaining amount of roll paper and ink on their iPhone or iPad, and it also can update the printer's firmware.
Canon also designed the printer to make it easy to install rolls of paper for users unfamiliar with large-format printers. Unlike similar printers, the roll holder on the imagePROGRAF TC-20 is shaftless, so users can easily insert and lock the roll holders on two sides.
For CAD drawings, the printer has standard speeds of 33 seconds per page for black and white paper and one minute and three seconds for color prints. Users can print posters on plain paper in one minute and ten seconds on the fast setting or the standard speed of two minutes and eight seconds.
The imagePROGRAF TC-20 can also print posters on coated paper at three minutes and ten seconds per page on the fast setting or six minutes and five seconds at the standard speed.
