A point release for iOS 26.5.1 has arrived, with the minor changes fixing a charging bug affecting the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air.

Apple released iOS 26.5 on May 11, and is currently beta-testing an update for iOS 26.6. In the meantime, it has just dropped a new incremental update for iOS 26.5.1.

As is expected for a point release update, iOS 26.5.1 doesn't introduce major features, but it does include an important fix for some iPhone users. Indeed, it is only available for the iPhone 17 family and iPhone Air.

The official release notes state that it "addresses an issue for a small number of users that may prevent wired charging on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models when the battery is nearly drained."

Future updates to iOS 26 are unlikely to contain any major feature updates in the run-up to the release of iOS 27, due this fall. Instead, they are expected to consist of bug fix and performance improvement releases, with the features being left to the developer beta of iOS 27.

For the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, navigate to the Settings app and select General, then Software Update to manually install the update. Otherwise, wait for the automatic update as usual if that is enabled.
