Apple seeds the first developer beta of iOS 16.5 & iPadOS 16.5

Developers can download iOS 16.5

Last updated

Apple has restarted the beta cycle for developers by releasing the first betas of iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5.

Developers can download the latest builds from the Apple Developer Center after signing up for the beta testing program. Public beta versions of the releases often arrive shortly after the developer releases through the Apple Beta Software Program.

The final release candidates for iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 arrived on March 21. Apple also sent out macOS Ventura 13.3 RC to developers.

Apple issued public releases of iOS 16.4 and iOS 16.5 on March 27.

Registered developers will have the option to enable developer betas directly in Settings, which Apple released in iOS 16.4. Moving forward, Apple will shift to this as the only method to get the betas.

The first betas for iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 have the build number 20F5028e, up from 20E246 from the release candidates. So far, there are no hints of what new features these betas may offer.

However, the company still hasn't released the Savings account for Apple Card users. Apple updated the terms and conditions for Apple Card in early March to address the account.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
