Third watchOS 10.1 developer beta is now available

Developers can download the new watchOS beta

Apple's third developer beta for watchOS 10.1 is now available for testing by beta participants.

Developers participating in the beta program can pick up the latest versions via the Apple Developer Center or by updating their devices with the beta software. Public beta versions are typically available a short time after the developer releases, via the Apple Beta Software Program.

The third developer beta for watchOS 10.1 comes in after the second, released on October 3, which in turn replaced the first, which Apple brought out on September 27. The third watchOS 10.1 beta is build number 21S5063a, replacing the previous build, 21S5053f.

The changes in watchOS 10.1's first beta included the introduction of NameDrop, which didn't arrive in the main watchOS 10 release.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
