First watchOS 10.1 developer beta is now available

Developers can download the new watchOS beta

Apple's first developer beta for watchOS has arrived after the release of the milestone version, with developers now able to try out watchOS 10.1.

Developers participating in the beta program can pick up the latest versions via the Apple Developer Center or by updating their devices with the beta software. Public beta versions are typically available a short time after the developer releases, via the Apple Beta Software Program.

The first watchOS 10.1 beta follows after the release of watchOS 10 to the public, which shipped on September 18. The RC version was put out on September 12.

The first watchOS 10.1 beta is build number 21S5042f.

It is too early to determine what is new in this beta, but as the first major update post-milestone release, it is likely to include bug fixes, performance improvements, and feature tweaks among other elements.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
