AirTag 2 delayed, Ecobee doorbell review and more on the HomeKit Insider podcast

HomeKit Insider

On this week's episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, your hosts break down lots of new product release, review the Humelle humidifier, and discuss the rumored AirTag 2 delay.

This week, it was rumored that Apple had decided to push the release of its second-generation AirTag until 2025, missing the predicted 2024 window. Speaking of AirTag, though, Nomad has partnered with Hydroflask for a new water bottle that can house one of Apple's trackers.

Plus Lipro released its first HomeKit-enabled ceiling lights, and Aqara launched its E1 camera in China with pan and tilt support. Yeelight has new Matter-enabled beam lights.

TP-Link has two new HomeKit cameras, but they don't support HomeKit Secure Video. Similarly, Level has released a new Wi-Fi module that brings support for Samsung SmartThings, Google Home, and other platforms, but doesn't change much for HomeKit users though.

However, the Ecobee Smart Video Doorbell works with HomeKit, although at launch there isn't support for HomeKit activity notifications. Otherwise, this is one of our favorites in the category and we've been testing it for a couple of weeks now.

After the news, we took another look at the Owl Home humidifier. This combination smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, motion sensor, temperature sensor, and audio sensor works in the Home app to help protect your home.

Then we looked at the humidifier we teased on last week's episode. Resembling the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks, this is a Thread-connected humidifier that looks like Jony Ive designed it.
