New iPad Air & iPad Pro models are coming on May 7

Last updated

In a surprise move, Apple has announced a new iPad event for May 7, with the iPad Pro and iPad Air expected to debut.

The event called "Let Loose" is on May 7. However, it is scheduled a bit earlier in the day than normal, happening at 10AM Eastern time.

Like other Apple events, it will be streamed to the public via the Apple website, as well as the Apple TV app and on YouTube.

The image makes it clear that there is probably a new Apple Pencil coming. The device is expected to support new gestures, but beyond that, little is known about it.

With no significant changes to the ranges in 2023, Apple's iPads are due a shakeup. Rumored models include a pair of iPad Air updates, with a 10.9-inch model accompanied by a 12.9-inch version.

An update to the iPad Pro is also expected, using an OLED display instead of mini-LED backlighting. The entry-level iPad and the iPad mini aren't expected to arrive at this event, instead predicted for the Fall of 2024.

AppleInsider will be covering the event live, publishing news reports and providing analysis on what Apple decides to launch.

Originally, they planned to launch new iPads in March. They had to postpone due to software issues.

Apple is very poor at software. Their bugs from iOS17 confirm that Apple has to work on their software talents.

Or, excess inventory as they hadn’t released a new one since Old Testament days.

$10 says the Pencil squeeze gesture acts as a pressure control for use with the Vision Pro. 3D drawing and sculpting, etc. Anyone who’s done that before on other platforms knows how cool it is.
