A new rumor suggests that Apple's budget-friendly iPhone SE could get a substantial redesign in its fourth iteration — and a higher price tag.
The iPhone SE is known for being Apple's budget-friendly iPhone, and currently, the only model available for those who still prefer Touch ID over Face ID. However, a new rumor from Ice Universe, a leaker with a good track record, says that's about to change.
The new model will feature an edge-to-edge 6.06-inch OLED screen, complete with Face ID notch, officially marking the end of Touch ID in iPhone. The design is expected to be similar to the iPhone 14.
It would boast Apple's A18 chip and either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Like its predecessors, it would only feature one camera but would be upgraded to a 48-megapixel camera over the third-generation iPhone SE 12 megapixels.
With such upgrades, it's unsurprising that the leaker says the price will also increase. Currently, the iPhone SE 3 is available for $429 for the 64 GB model.
The upcoming iPhone SE 4 would likely start at $499 for the base model, costing as much as $549 for the model with the most storage. This is a substantial price jump for those looking for an affordable iPhone.
A recent rumor suggested that the iPhone SE 4 would feature a similar design to the iPhone 16, rather than the iPhone 14. It was also unclear if the rumor proposed that the iPhone SE 4 would launch alongside the iPhone 16.
The post on Weibo says that the iPhone SE 4 should release in Spring 2025.

iPhone SE 4 can't wait to "Spring 2025". Apple will need something now to cover USB C requirements this year.
Apple can't do only 15, 16, 16 Pro.
Still don’t understand why they aren’t giving it the iPhone mini form factor. That was the main selling point of the original SE. Mini sales were soft, but if this is being sold as the sole “budget” option in their lineup, what difference does it make? The budget constrained consumers who they see as its target audience will buy it in preference to a much more expensive iPhone or iPhone pro, no?
im holding on to my 13 mini until it falls apart and is no longer repairable because it’s gone vintage by that point. Wish Apple wouldn’t put me in this position.
