Apple TV+ has scored seven nominations in the major categories of the Golden Globes, with "Slow Horses" and "Disclaimer" getting multiple nods.

It's a dramatic drop from its fortunes in 2023 when Apple TV+ scored 16 nominations across the film and television categories. But this time the critical hit "Slow Horses" picked up three nominations, while "Shrinking" and "Disclaimer" each had two.

The full list of nominees is:

  • Best TV Drama: "Slow Horses"
  • Best TV Male Performance Drama: Gary Oldman, "Slow Horses"
  • Best TV Supporting Male Drama: Jack Lowden, "Slow Horses"
  • Best TV Male Performance Comedy: Jason Segal, "Shrinking"
  • Best TV Supporting Male Comedy: Harrison Ford, "Shrinking"
  • Best TV Female Performance in a Limited Series: Cate Blanchett, "Disclaimer"
  • Best TV Male Performance in a Limited Series: Kevin Kline, "Disclaimer"

"Slow Horses" is nominated as Best Television Drama, and has again seen star Gary Oldman nominated in the category for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series - Drama. The show also scored a Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television for Jack Lowden.

Lowden will compete in that category against Harrison Ford, who is nominated for his performance in "Shrinking." The comedy also saw a nomination for Jason Seqel as Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy.

"Disclaimer" is the newest of shows on Apple TV+ to get nominations. That picked up best performance nominations for both Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline.

The winners will be announced on Sunday, January 5, 2025. The ceremony will be screened live on CBS and Paramount+ from 8pm Eastern.

Apple TV+ has already picked up "Slow Horses" for a fifth season.

Apple TV+ is a real hidden gem that the general public should really be considering. It’s both better than most of the bigger streamers in terms of quality shows, and cheaper than most of them as well.

“Shrinking” is very very good, “Slow Horses” is a masterpiece of television. Lots of other very well-scripted, well-made shows in a wide variety of genres (“Schmigadoon,” “The Reluctant Traveler” and “Foundation” are is a favourite of mine, but even the shows in genres I don’t care for are beautifully made).

Please explain how "Lowden will compete in that category against Harrison Ford" when Ford is nominated in the Comedy category and Lowden is nominated for Drama?

Disclaimer was just bad. The story in the end is lame and there is no reason why Blanchett doesn't give the whole story away from the start other than creating a mystery at the cost of her own suffering. It doesn't make any sense.

Shrinking is very enjoyable. Harrison Ford almost plays himself with the snark and absolute disdain for everything.

The line that was the funniest in the series was when Ford is complaining to Segal about how a barista screwed up his order and just offered "My Bad" as an apology - Segal says that the best he can ever get from teenagers. Ford's retort: "Really? I'm glad we f****d up the planet for them"!!

A good show by Bill Lawrance (creator of one of my favourite shows - Scrubs), Jason Segal and Brett Goldstein.

EDIT: blurred out a cuss word.
