Thanks for being with AppleInsider in 2024, the year of the Apple Vision Pro and Apple Intelligence. Have a very good 2025 — which promises to be a rollercoaster for Apple.
This time last year we were awaiting the release of the Apple Vision Pro and wondering whether it would revolutionize the world, or prove to be a costly flop. Nearly twelve months on, we still don't know, but it feels as we're at the beginning of something great.
Apple Vision Pro was unusual in that it wasn't just a device, it was a whole new platform for Apple. And, perhaps surprisingly, it looks as if we may get yet another one in 2025.
If we do, it will be a platform based around the home. Apple is said to be looking at releasing its own cameras, not to mention the expected Home Hub, but as ever, we'll have to wait to see.
What we can be certain of is that this is the year of the iPhone 17 range — and this could be a significant update. While the iPhone 16 was said to be built for Apple Intelligence, the iPhone 17 will be the first to be released since the AI service became available.
Or at least, it will be the first annual update to the whole iPhone range, as we're expecting the iPhone SE 4 to come out around March 2025. It's likely that we'll see an updated MacBook Air with an M4 processor, too, and recent rumors suggest it may come early in 2025.
Also in early 2025 we should see an update to the entry-level iPad. That was last updated in October 2022, so it's getting long in the tooth but there are few rumors of what improvements the iPad 11 may bring.
It is even longer, though, since the AirTag was released. That was launched in 2021 and hasn't seen an update since, but now AirTag 2 is expected to bring longer range and better tracking sometime in 2025.
Not every Apple device will be updated in 2025 — the iPad Air is not expected to get another refresh this year — but it is surely also time for the Mac Studio to get an M4 Ultra processor. Based on supply chain rumors, it's also likely that we'll finally see updates to the HomePod, HomePod mini, and Apple TV 4K.
You can be absolutely sure, though, of the fact that AppleInsider will be here for every event, every launch, and through a discerning lens, also every rumor that matters. Whether it's our on-the-scene presence at CES at the start of the year, WWDC in the middle, or the iPhone 17 launch toward the end of 2025, AppleInsider will once more be here every day.
Join us on the AppleInsider forums to discuss what matters to you. For its nearly 30 years now, AppleInsider has always prided itself on adapting and evolving to better serve you — and we value your opinion!

And a Very Happy New Year to all the AI staff and readers.
Happy New Year!
I think the Watch Series will get some AI capabilities this year and perhaps an early stab at glucose monitoring but not yet for diabetics, more for the sports enthusiasts.
Happy New Year!
