HomePod Mini 2 rumors, Nanoleaf monitor lights, & cameras in Matter 1.5 on HomeKit Insider

On the latest episode of the HomeKit Insider Podcast, your host dives into HomePod mini 2 and HomePod 3 rumors, evidence pointing to cameras in Matter version 1.5, Nanoleaf's new computer light, and SwitchBot's leaked Hub 3.

The bulk of the episode is spent surrounding Apple's efforts on the HomePod mini 2 and HomePod 3. Both rumored to launch this year, we go into new features, software changes, and other improvements to expect.

While the 2025 crop of HomePods will have similar designs to what's shipping now, rumors suggest better audio, improved Siri, and new internal chips will all arrive.

After covering the rumors, we delve into the rest of the news for the week. And in the week, Nanoleaf released its new computer lights.

The Nanoleaf computer lights mount behind your monitor and is powered up over USB-C. With both PC and Mac support, it can sync with software on your computer to mirror the your screen to the lights for dynamic effects.

Evidence found on Github also point to cameras possibly being included in the Matter 1.5 update. Expected in the spring, there is plenty of time for this to change, but it looks like at least streaming support may be introduced.

Appearing on the CSA site, SwitchBot is working on an updated version of its hub. The SwitchBot Hub 3 has a new design with an integrated knob to be used for controlling lights, AC, or media.

Finally, Signify has launched the Datura line in the US after going to the EU first. These ceiling-mounted lights come in circle, square, and rectangular shapes.

There are upward and downward-facing lights built in that are independently controllable. They support both Apple Home as well as Matter.
