The SwitchBot K10+ promises strong suction, smart navigation, and months of hands-free cleaning in a compact body.

Robot vacuums save time, or at least are supposed to do that. However, despite their size, many are bulky enough to get stuck in narrow spots or miss areas under low tables and sofas.

The SwitchBot K10 aims to solve that by shrinking the footprint without stripping away features like LiDAR mapping. For small apartments or furnished rooms, the appeal is obvious.

SwitchBot K10+ - Small size, solid design

At just under 10 inches wide and slightly over 3.5 inches tall, the K10+ has about half the footprint of most robot vacuums. It looks compact next to a standard model, but that size lets it slip under low furniture and work around table legs without getting stuck.

The dock is scaled down too, so it fits into corners more easily than most

The dock it uses is also smaller than most, so it takes up less visual space. It still needs about three foot of clearance on each side and just over four feet in front for reliable docking.

In early runs, I noticed the K10+ occasionally wandered before finding home. Once it completed mapping, though, it returned to the dock reliably.

Its small frame and precise navigation make it a great fit for furnished rooms and narrow spaces

The onboard bin is small, but that is offset by its automatic emptying system. The dock's 4-liter bag holds roughly 70 days of debris before it needs to be replaced.

SwitchBot K10+ - Suction and sound

The K10+ delivers 2,500 Pa of suction, which is strong for its size class. It easily handles dust, crumbs, and pet hair on hard floors and low-pile rugs.

It's not meant to be used on thick carpet, but on smooth surfaces, it keeps up without trouble.

Quiet mode runs at around 48 decibels, which is low enough that I could work nearby without much distraction. Mopping is quieter still, since the vacuum motor shuts off during that mode.

If all else fails, I have AirPods Pro with active noise cancellation.

Navigation is quick and efficient, since the LiDAR system maps rooms in neat, methodical rows. This helps the robot reach spots that bulkier vacuums often miss.

While it doesn't have an AI-driven camera, obstacle avoidance was better than expected. It steered clear of cords, loose fabric, and plant vines.

In some situations, the exhaust airflow could push lighter debris a short distance away from the cleaning path. On hard floors, this sometimes left a small patch of dust or crumbs that needed a second pass to collect.

It didn't happen often, but it could extend cleaning time on hard surfaces like tile and wood.

SwitchBot K10+ - Mopping for light cleaning

The K10+ can't vacuum and mop in the same run. To mop, you first run a vacuum cycle, then attach the mopping plate.

Instead of a water tank, it uses a baby wipe-like pad similar to a Swiffer. The box contains disposable pads, and you can cut reusable cloths to the desired size.

Once the plate is attached, the vacuum automatically switches to mop mode. It's good for picking up fine dust and light footprints, but it won't scrub away dried stains or sticky spills.

Think of it as a quick refresh between deep cleanings.

I like that SwitchBot designed the robot so that users can install dish cloths or rags they already have. It's a sustainable option that more products should copy.

The K10+ ships with a starter pack of mopping pads, and the company sells more if you really need them.

At about 83 cents per pad, SwitchBot's mopping cloths are priced in the midrange for robot vacuum disposables. They're not the cheapest option, but the cost is reasonable for pads designed to fit perfectly and perform consistently with the K10+.

SwitchBot K10+ - App and smart home integration

The SwitchBot app has a clean and intuitive design with live mapping, room labeling, cleaning schedules, and no-go zones. The iPad app is full-sized and fully featured, which is a nice change from other vacuum apps that are only designed for the iPhone screen.

Setup has a minor quirk — until the K10+ connects to Wi-Fi and the app, its voice prompts are in Chinese. Once connected, you can download English or other languages.

The K10+ works with Alexa and Google Assistant. With a SwitchBot Hub (second or third gen), it can join Apple Home through Matter.

It's not a native HomeKit device, but Siri Shortcuts can handle basic commands, such as starting or stopping a cleaning cycle.

SwitchBot K10+ - value and trade-offs

The K10+ retails for around $400, though sales have dropped it lower. That's a compelling price for a compact robot vacuum with LiDAR navigation and a self-emptying dock.

Many larger rivals cost more while missing tight spots entirely.

There are a few trade-offs at this price. For example, the mop is basic and works best for light touch-ups.

In my testing, object detection was excellent, avoiding cords, fabric, and plant stems with ease.

Its small size and precise navigation make it a great fit for furnished rooms and narrow spaces. For anyone who wants quiet, low-maintenance cleaning at a fair price, the K10+ is easy to recommend.

SwitchBot K10+ - the bottom line

The SwitchBot K10+ combines a compact build, solid suction, and smart navigation in a self-emptying robot vacuum. It isn't the most advanced model, but it's a practical, budget-friendly choice for small homes and apartments.

At a good sale price, it's a standout in the compact robot vacuum market. Its mix of affordability and performance makes it a reliable cleaning option that won't strain your budget.
