Rumors about iPhone 17 accessories are piling up, but the trickle from a leaker known more for volume than accuracy is still questionable.

Apple's next set of cases has allegedly been revealed, courtesy of prolific leaker Majin Bu. He claims the company will release a line of "Liquid Silicone" covers in October 2025, complete with new colors and a built-in lanyard slot.

The leaked lineup includes eight shades: Deep Orange, Pale Orange, Grass Green, Celadon, Fog Purple, Grey Blue, Dark Blue, and Midnight Black. The cases are said to support MagSafe, improve grip, and feature redesigned buttons for durability.

Bu also alleges Apple tested Carambola and Lake Green, but those were cut. Seasonal refreshes could still bring them later, since Apple often rotates case colors mid-cycle to boost sales.

The "Liquid Silicone" problem

Here's where credibility starts to slip. Majin Bu calls these cases "Liquid Silicone," but that's not the first time he's used the name.

Earlier in August he claimed Apple was replacing FineWoven with a new silicone blend, only to later reverse course. AppleInsider labeled that rumor a "sketchy leak" because it clashed with Apple's past material decisions.

The new leak also claims Apple's cases will feature a dedicated lanyard slot. That's plausible, since Apple has experimented with lanyards for AirPods and AirTag accessories.

But other details remain questionable.

The real test

If Apple does release iPhone 17 cases in October 2025, they'll almost certainly be silicone and come in new colors. That much doesn't require a leak to predict.

Majin Bu's claims boil down to a "Liquid Silicone" label and a palette of alleged shades. Without confirmation from Apple, it's marketing fluff dressed up as insider information.

Bottom line

Rumors about Apple cases always catch attention because they're colorful, affordable, and tied to launch-day hype. Silicone cases are coming from Apple, there's no doubt.

They're also incredibly easy to fake as being from Apple.

Relying on Majin Bu is risky. His history includes false claims, recycled content, and even commercial conflicts like selling his own iPhone 17 cases.

Until Apple shows its hand in September, skepticism remains the smartest accessory to keep on.
