Apple is making its Sports app more global and customizable, bringing new widgets, more leagues, and wider availability to fans.
On Tuesday, Apple announced an update to its Apple Sports app. Now, fans can add widgets on their iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Widgets allow fans quick access to their favorite team's scores and schedules. When adding a widget, you can select from the "My Teams" view for scores or the "League" view to keep up with scores for every team in a league.
Widgets can be customized across your devices, too. There are no limits to how many can be added — super fans can keep tabs on all their favorite teams and leagues, no matter what device.
And now, Apple Sports is expanding to eight more countries, including Austria, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
League coverage has also been expanded. New European soccer competitions, including the 2. Bundesliga, Ligue 2, Segunda Division, Serie B, and Primeira Liga have been added.
Apple Sports was first introduced in February 2024 to mixed reviews.
However, Apple's senior vice president os services Eddy Cue, said the app was designed to give fans quick access to the information they want to know.
Since then, Apple has slowly but steadily added features to it. In September 2025, Apple added Live Activities to Sports.
In January 2025, Apple added TV broadcast information to individual game pages. In April 2025, Apple brought dynamic game card sharing to the platform.
