Apple CEO Tim Cook is in Japan where the first-ever Apple Store outside the US is being reopened.
This is Cook's first official visit to Japan since 2022, when he toured manufacturing partners such as Sony, as well as local games developers. Now he's revealed that he is back in the country specifically for the reopening of Apple Ginza on September 26.

Tokyo's Apple Ginza was originally opened in 2003, when it was amongst the first-ever Apple Stores — and specifically the very first outside the USA. In 2022, it moved to a temporary location nearby while its original building was demolished.
That temporary store was purpose-built to standards that have marked a new era in Japanese architecture. It was a small boutique-style store, but now Apple Ginza is returning to a new building on the site of the old one.
"This reopening is another incredible milestone on our journey here in Japan," Cook said in a statement, "and a symbol of our strong ties to customers and communities across the country."
"We couldn't be more excited to open the doors to this beautifully redesigned space, share our latest products, and build on the incredible history we share," he continued.
Cook's trip to Tokyo comes less than a week after he met with fans at Apple Fifth Avenue in New York as the new iPhone 17 range went on sale.
