The Apple Wallet app may soon offer digital Car Key support for select GM vehicles, according to newly discovered code.

Since 2020, the Car Key feature has let iPhone and Apple Watch owners unlock and start their cars using their mobile devices. In a new code discovery, select cars from automaker General Motors will soon support Apple's Car Key system as well.

Apple's Car Key is already supported by more than 30 vehicle manufacturers. At WWDC 2025, Apple revealed that Car Key would make its way to 13 additional vehicle brands, including some owned by GM.

Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac are all expected to roll out Car Key support. According to MacRumors, Apple has reportedly added settings for GM cars to an internal Car Key-compatible vehicle list.

At the time of writing, only the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV and 2026 GMC Sierra EV are known to feature Car Key support. It remains to be seen which additional Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC vehicles will receive Apple Car Key compatibility.

Car Key allows drivers to lock and unlock their car, and to start it, using an iPhone or Apple Watch, thanks to NFC. With the keys stored in the user's wallet, it's possible to unlock vehicles by standing near them or remotely, or to use an NFC reader to start it up.
