Apple's latest advertisement, featuring NHL goalie masks designed on iPad, shows just how useful the tablet can be for creative professionals.
On November 22, Apple uploaded a new advertisement for its iconic iPad Pro line and the Apple Pencil Pro. The company's high-end tablet was most recently upgraded with the M5 chip in October 2025, and now we get to see just how capable and the new-and-improved model really is.
The video itself doesn't focus on the specs of the iPad Pro, but instead illustrates exactly what an artist can do with a top-of-the-line iPad. It's part of Apple's long-standing Made on iPad campaign, which focuses on creative endeavors involving Apple's tablets.
As part of the ad, Apple showcased how NHL goalies collaborated with designers to bring their mask ideas to life.
Specifically, the iPad advertisement featured Anthony Stolarz and Sam Montembeault's masks, designed by Jordon Bourgeault, along with Thatcher Demko and Dustin Wolf's masks, created by Travis Michael. Also in the video are Adin Hill and Logan Thompson's masks, designed by Dave Fried.
Messages between the artists and the NHL goalies are featured prominently in the video, alongside the mask designs themselves, of course. The advertisement itself starts with plain, two-dimensional sketches of animals, and later shows off the final designs on 3D models of the NHL goalie masks.
Along with the iPad Pro, Apple's video also includes the quintessential Apple Pencil Pro, introduced in May 2024 with the M4 variant of the iPad Pro. Relative to the standard Apple Pencil, the Apple Pencil Pro supports haptic feedback and a barrel roll gesture, among other things.
Apple released a similar iPad advertisement in October 2024, which also saw designers working together with NHL goalies. Earlier, in August 2021, Apple shared a clip of Olivia Rodrigo's music video "brutal," touting the iPad's role in the making of the video.
