I've gathered more than a hundred cases for iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Let's walk through them all to help you find the best case for your needs.
The list of cases encompasses dozens of brands, all with various styles. Many cases are offered in several colors or designs, even if not all are shown off here.
I've broken the list down into different categories to help narrow down the looks. As I tried out each case, I looked for things like design, unique features, stands, Camera Control covers, MagSafe magnets, and more.
General cases
Moment | Camera case
The Moment Camera case is one of the more unique ones that I tested. It's unique because not only does it serve a purpose as reliable protection for your phone, but it also serves as a base for Moment's other accessories.
For the 2025 model, Moment added a color-matched Camera Control cover that works well as the shutter button. It also has a new material that I like that has a good grip to it, while not being as "sticky" as silicone ones.
There are anchors for a lanyard or charms, and the buttons are also anodized metal to match the color of the case. By default, it comes with a standard camera ring, but one with lens mounts is also included.
This ring around the camera is protective, but it is where you can connect a Moment lens using its custom bayonet system. Filters can also be added, such as my favorite CineBloom, which adds a nice lighting effect to photos and videos.
The best part, though, may be the bottom of the case. Moment is the only one that makes the bottom of the case perfectly flush with the phone, making it very comfortable to hold and making swiping from the bottom very easy.
Check out the Moment store for all its accessories, with cases starting at $55.
Bellroy | Venture case
Traditionally, I'd say Bellroy is known for its leather cases, but for the iPhone 17 lineup, it also released a new case called the Venture case. It doesn't use leather, but it has a more rugged feeling.
The back looks cool with a slight recess where a wallet would go and a textured accent around the MagSafe magnets. There is full coverage of the camera bump, a neat striped interior microfiber, and a bonus wrist lanyard included in the box.
I still prefer the leather ones personally, but it's great to see Bellroy's attention to detail play out on a plastic case such as this. It has nice, smooth lines that I think look very sleek.
Buy the Bellroy Venture case for $55 on Amazon.
Moft | Movas case
Many faux leather cases feel decidedly plastic. Moft somehow avoids that with its own Movas material.
It uses this on many of its accessories, but I think it works great on the phone case. It has that great feel and grip a real leather has, but it doesn't try to replicate the actual look of leather.
Of all the cases that provide a leather-like material, Movas has been my favorite. I think the white looks great here, especially on my silver iPhone 17 Pro.
Other nice features include anodized metal buttons, an integrated Camera Control cover, and a recess inside to put Moft's hidden lanyard anchor.
Pick up the Moft Movas case on Amazon for $50.
Casekoo | MagicStand 360 case
Casekoo is another strong contender for unique cases with its integrated ring stand. It proudly has a patent on this ring stand that pivots out from the phone's MagSafe magnets, but then also can spin around for use at any angle.
I love the great colors that are perfectly designed to complement the iPhone 17 colors, including a vivid orange and blue. There are reinforcements in the camera plateau cover, and the buttons are easy to press.
The only downside is the lack of a real Camera Control cover. Otherwise, the stand seems really handy and can serve as a bit of extra grip in a pinch.
Grab the Casekoo case for $33 on Amazon.
Belkin | SheerForce Protect case
Belkin is one of Apple's go-to accessory partners, and for cases, it's a bit minimal. Still, it's a great case that nails all the essentials.
The sides of the case are slightly recessed and are also glossy. This smooth finish provides a bit of extra grip as well as giving the sides a two-tone appearance.
Buttons are pressed easily, and the cover on the Camera Control is color-matched. Nab one for $29.99 from Belkin.
Mous | Intralock case
The Mous case I tested is one of the brand's locking cases. It has four holes on the back that coincide with the Mous mounts.
Compared to just MagSafe magnets that can't withstand excessive force, this physical lock will make it much harder for the phone to come free during an impact.
Outside of the IntraLock version, Mous also offers other cases with their own unique features, like leather inlays. All have strong reinforcement around the sides and corners and an inner layer of drop protection.
Buy the case from Mous for $52.
Alumu | A17 case
As the name implies, the Alumu A17 case uses aluminum in its case, as well as other materials. It has a multi-layer construction with a flexible inner layer, a rigid shell, and aluminum accents.
The camera plateau is covered with a piece of aluminum, as are the matching metal buttons. One of the cool things about this case is all the little touches printed on it.
There are tiny, little printed words, perforations, and more that give this unique appearance. I really like the combination of the dark, clear rubber material, the white back, and the aluminum.
Buy the A17 slim shockproof case for $47.98.
Otterbox | Sole case
The Sole line from Otterbox is inspired by popular shoe culture, and it looks great. The back is translucent with visible fibers running through, and there is speckled rubber around the MagSafe magnets.
The edge of the case is ribbed, which looks like the bottom of a shoe. Otterbox also adds a little color-matched stretchy cord that is reminiscent of the pull tab on the tongue of a shoe.
They come in a bunch of fun colors, including the pink that I had here. Since it is Otterbox, it also includes the integrated Camera Control, too.
Otterbox | Symmetry case
The second case from OtterBox is the classic Symmetry case. It's the one most people think of when they think of OtterBox, and it usually comes in fun colors, patterns, and even licensed character designs.
It's a staple for good reason, with a fairly thin design but also good protection. The one I have has several gold-stamped flowers on a green background.
The Otterbox Sole case can be picked up for $55 from Otterbox.
Nomad | Modern case
Nomad, usually known for its leather cases, has also started making more non-leather cases over the last few years. Here, I have its Modern case.
The case has a glossy exterior with grippy TPU rubber around the edges. It has metal buttons, an integrated Camera Control, and MagSafe.
Compared to other materials, the plastic back slips a bit more with MagSafe wallets, but it also looks great.
Nomad has its Modern Case for $39.
Native Union | Active case
The Paris-designed Active case from Native Union has a two-tone appearance. Its body is dark green with a black plastic cover around the camera plateau.
I love how handsome and understated this case is. The colors complement each other well, and the tiny perforations on the back give it some added visual interest.
Even though the material feels like colored leather, it's not, making this case vegan-friendly. We have metal buttons on the sides and even an integrated Camera Control.
Buy the Native Union Active case for $55.
BodyGuardz | Pulse case
Even though BodyGuardz has been around, I think it often gets overlooked. The brand continues to do a lot of innovative things on its cases.
Take the Pulse case I have here, which uses an inlaid layer of cooling gel to help regulate your phone's temperature. Touching the inside of the case is very cold and helps transfer heat away from your phone and onto this cooling material.
There are also a series of hidden vents all around the edges of the case that also help with airflow. With better temperatures, it helps the phone increase performance, charge faster, and increase the battery life — even if just a little bit.
On the bottom of the case are also forward-facing vents that are used to direct audio forward, making the speakers louder when listening to audio. Finally, there are matching metal buttons, an integrated Camera Control, and an included lanyard.
Check out the BodyGuardz cases starting at $50.
dbrand | Ghost 2.0 case
Dbrand has its Ghost Case 2.0 for the iPhone 17 Pro that promises to never yellow and has black accents around the sides and camera. The clear and black look is sharp, and the plastic extends over the entire camera plateau, and the MagSafe magnets nicely highlight the Apple logo.
Like others, there is a camera Control built in, but unlike any other I've tested, it is textured to match and blend in with the ribs down the side. It looks very cool and in use, and it seems to work the same.
Buy the dbrand Ghost Case 2.0 for $44.90 from the company's website.
Spigen | Ultra Hybrid case
Spine has many styles of cases, but I was so excited by the special version of its Ultra Hybrid case. The Ultra Hybrid is a great mass-appeal case with a lot of color options and styles.
It protects the phone well and offers a suitable grip. In the video, I show off various versions, but my favorite one was this one that looks like it shows the inner workings of the iPhone.
What's so cool is that the back was printed onto a clear case, both on the inside and the outside. This gives it a 3D effect so it appears you're really looking through the back of the phone.
One of the small chips is printed in two layers: the bottom half appears on the inside of the case with the wiring. The top half is printed on the outside, and the case's own thickness creates the illusion that the chip itself is three-dimensional.
The printing also hides things like the MagSafe magnets that are the faux copper coils that are in the same position. The only downside is that this case does not include the integrated Camera Control.
The Spigen Ultra Hybrid cases start at $15.99.
Spigen | Rugged Armor case
If you want something a little tougher, we have the Spine Rugged Armor case. This isn't the most protective one Spigen makes, but I think it's a solid balance.
The outside is textured for some added grip, and the molded rubber also covers the whole camera plateau. Unlike the other Spigen case, this one does have an integrated Camera Control.
The lower-right side has a lanyard anchor, but you'll have to provide your own. Buy the case for $19.99 on Amazon.
Totallee | Clear case
In another case of a brand expanding outside its core competency, we have Totallee. Totallee made a name for itself doing the ultra-thin clear shell cases, but then started offering other varieties.
This one is clean and simple — the Totallee soft clear case. It's made of a flexible rubber and covers the whole phone.
It still is thin by all accounts, which is part of the reason Totallee doesn't include MagSafe magnets. The case is thin enough that many accessories will still work and adhere, though car mounts and stands may not work.
Buy the clear Totallee case for $35.
ESR | Hybrid Magnetic case
The ESR Hybrid magnetic case is the middle-of-the-road choice from the brand. It's thicker than the ESR Soft case, but not as big as the ESR Tough case.
I love the two-tone look on the back that has colored sides with a translucent panel in the center. It even extends the translucent panel around the camera plateau.
The best part of all the ESR cases I tried is that they have the Stash Stand built into the camera ring. This zinc alloy bezel pivots out to act as an impromptu stand at any time.
It's great because you always have a stand when you need it that works at a variety of angles, but also keeps the back free for other MagSafe accessories like wallets, chargers, or batteries.
Buttons are all easy to press, it has super-strong MagSafe magnets, and a color-matched Camera Control. Pick it up for $35.99.
ESR | Soft Magnetic case
The ESR Soft case is very similar to the Hybrid case, which is made mostly of soft-touch silicone. It's very comfortable to hold and is my favorite of the ESR lineup.
One extra nice touch is the texture around the MagSafe magnets. They add extra grip to the already very strong magnets, perfect for any of your accessories.
Buy one on Amazon for $32.99.
Smartish | Gripzilla case
From Smartish, I have the Gripzilla case. It is my favorite from the brand, with multiple textures and design patterns for the back.
Here, it has a wood texture look combined with the TPU rubber frame. It's called Gripzilla because of the textured grips down the sides.
The sides bubble out and give you easy spots to put your fingers. The best protection is preventing a phone from being dropped in the first place.
Pick up on Amazon for $31.
Scooch | MagCase
The MagCase from Scooch is another strong contender for a reliable case. It's decently thin, strong MagSafe magnets, and a nice two-tone look that should appeal to many.
It has an integrated Camera Control, metal buttons, and a lanyard anchor on the bottom-left side. Buy for $19.99 on Amazon.
Twelve South | Silicone case
Twelve South made not only its iconic BookBook case for the iPhone 17 Pro, but a new silicone style as well. It's essentially the Twelve South version of Apple's silicone cases.
It's very minimal with subtle branding and an integrated Camera Control. What's most unique is that the colors of the case go with the brand's other mobile accessories.
You can get a MagSafe wallet or Apple Watch band in a matching soft grey or Coastal Blue. It's perfect if you are going for the complete look, and the only way you can get that perfect match is with some great colorways.
Buy direct from Twelve South for $24.99.
Casely | Bold case
Casely offers two styles of cases — its standard Classic cases and its Bold cases. I prefer the latter as it has a slightly more premium feel and added grips down the sides.
Casely has tons of pretty and fun patterns for users to choose from in a space that can be largely too boring or masculine. There is no Camera Control cover, but it does have great MagSafe magnets.
Pick out your style on Amazon for $54.
MagBak | Elite case
The MagBak Elite 4 is the complete setup for your iPhone. You can get the case in either a sand color or black, various extra parts in different colors, and it comes with a screen protector.
What's neat is how the actual packaging serves as the installation tray for that screen protector to make it easy and stress-free. The sides, back finger loop, and other parts can all be easily removed and swapped for different colors, allowing you to make the design you want.
The case is very protective, is great to hold, and with the screen protector, should cover most any drop of your device. Buy your set for $79.
MagEasy | Pouch M case
The MagEasy Pouch M case is unique in that it uses vegan leather to create a solid iPhone case with a removable wallet. The magnetic wallet is a pouch, allowing you to even hold things like cash and coins.
Usually, adding coins to a wallet like this would be too heavy for magnets, but MagEasy also uses a backup clip on the corner. That way, you can remove the wallet if you need to, but it can still use magnets for placement and won't fall off.
Pick up yours for $69.99.
Apple | Clear case
I can't do a case roundup without including Apple's own cases. First of which is the clear case.
It generated a bit of controversy this year, as it isn't entirely clear. Instead, the body is clear, but the lower back is an opaque white rectangle.
This is, presumably, because the new, lower Apple logo would sit off-center within the MagSafe ring if aligned normally. Other case makers avoid this by placing the magnets directly above the logo instead.
Apple, on the other hand, opted to just cover the whole area and put the Apple logo on the case. The white rectangle perfectly matches the glass portion on the back of the new phones.
I think it looks great on the silver phone, but some don't like the look on the blue or orange versions. Otherwise, it has all the standard Apple features, like new, more tactile buttons.
Buy on Amazon for $49.
Apple | Silicone case
The second Apple case is the silicone case. Apple has several colors of the silicone case, as usual, and it hasn't changed much from years past.
One of the coolest features is the integration with the phone using NFC. When you put the phone on, a color splash will envelop the screen, matching the color of the case.
Similarly, when customizing your Home Screen, there is a new option to choose the same color as the case that is currently on your phone. It's very Apple and something only its cases can do.
Buy on Amazon for $49.
Apple | TechWoven case
Finally, Apple has its TechWoven cases. These are new this year and replace the previous FineWoven cases and leather cases.
It's made of a woven fabric comprised of different colored fibers. Apple then coats them with a special finish to prevent stains and dirt.
The TechWoven cases are nice, but I personally don't love the plastic sides, which still make them feel a little cheap. Apple still has other nice touches, though, including the aforementioned NFC integration, matching metal buttons, and support for Apple's new lanyard.
Buy on Amazon for $59.
Ultra-thin cases
Matter | Agave Snap case
If you don't want a full case, you can try out the Agave Snap. It's from Matter and magnetically connects to the back of your phone without covering up the sides.
It's tapered and gives the phone a great feel in the hand. The cactus leather is warm to the touch and is a strong replacement for actual leather.
I like these back plate-style cases, and Matter did a great job on this one. It doesn't come off too easily and adds just enough protection for the back of the phone and the camera.
Buy for $59.99.
Thinborne | Aramid Fiber case
Thinborne is another company that includes everything you need. You get the super-thin, hand-finished aramid fiber case alongside a screen protector.
The screen protector isn't super easy to install like other modern ones, but it's good that it is included. The case looks like carbon fiber and is about as thin as you get while being this rigid.
Even with the thinness, it still has embedded MagSafe magnets. There are cutouts around the side for all the buttons, too, as adding buttons would be too thick.
Buy on Amazon for $69.69.
Totallee | Ultra-thin case
Totallee has been one of my go-tos for thin cases. It has several colors, including frosted white, matte black, blue, and orange.
Personally, I love the matte black as it is about as close as you will get to a real black phone since Apple didn't release a black version of the iPhone 17 Pro.
Pick one up in your favorite color for $35.
Rugged cases
Zagg | Ultimate Protection case
Zagg's most protective case is probably my favorite of the rugged ones. I love the clear back with colorful accents that also provides such ample protection.
It's a multi-layer construction with extra material over the Camera Control and ports, plus an integrated metal kickstand.
Find on Amazon for $69.
ESR | Tough case
The ESR Tough case has all the same features as the other ESR cases, but it is the most durable. It's a bit bulkier, but it offers drop protection from even higher levels.
The green is my personal favorite, though the orange is also nice and vibrant. It has three layers of material, which will help absorb impacts and cradle your phone.
Like the others, it has super-strong MagSafe magnets, an integrated Camera Control cover, and the metal Stash Stand. Buy for $25.49 on Amazon.
Rockform | Crystal case
Rockform has two cases that are both just as durable. There is the regular Rugged case and then the Crystal case, as seen here.
The clear book looks great, allowing your phone's look to come through. In the center is a removable plug that covers a unique mount.
Rockform has a collection of different mounts for cars and motorcycles that can securely hold your phone stronger than MagSafe alone. Rockform users keep their mounts for years, so it's great to be able to upgrade to the latest cases that retain that same support.
Otterbox | Commuter case
When thinking of rugged cases, many think about the Otterbox Defender. It's the strongest and bulkiest case that Otterbox makes.
Here, I'm looking at the Commuter, which I think is also a very durable option for daily use. It has a bit less bulk than the Defender does while still being very protective.
There is a cover on the USB-C port and a dual-layer construction to take a tumble. The sides have an extra layer of silicone to make sure they have extra grip, too.
Buy for $29 on Amazon.
UAG | Pathfinder case
UAG has a ton of cases, and as of late, they all have support for MagSafe, which didn't used to be the case. They are rugged, tough, and eye-catching, such as the Pathfinder shown here.
I'm a big fan of the pattern and poppy yellow color. Basically, all the cases UAG makes are rugged, but unfortunately, they don't have integrated Camera Controls.
Pick up on Amazon for $59.
Casetify | Bounce case
Casetify has a solid lineup, but if you want protection, you should opt for its Bounce case. This one is the most rugged with large corners that will easily protect your phone from a drop.
Like other Casetify cases, they have integrated Camera Control covers, MagSafe magnets, and can be customized. The brand has a huge line of patterns and styles, as well as licensed content from the likes of Disney that you can put on the back of your case.
Find all the different styles on Casetify's website.
Future | AOHi case
The Future AOHi case is not one that I have seen before. It uses a strong non-Newtonian material on the inside that will help absorb impacts in the case of a drop.
Despite its thin look, it promises to be much more protective than it lets on. I like the look of this case a lot, and it feels very sturdy.
Buy for $24.99 from AOHi.
Leather cases
Alto | Leather case
There are lots of cases that I like, but my fondness for Alto goes back years. It has long made fantastic, high-quality leather cases.
They are made of full-grain aniline dyed Italian leather that feels great and comes in many vibrant colors. Colors you don't usually see on leather cases that frequently stick to browns and blacks.
This time, Arlo also has options for textured backs, optional metal stands built into the camera rings, and Camera Control covers. They're wonderful, and I always recommend them, especially if you want a leather one that stands out a bit more.
Check out the collection on Amazon for $59.
Burton Goods | Folio case
Burton Goods has crushed it with its iPhone 17 cases. Instead of just a standard full-wrap leather case, Burton Goods added some stylistic stitching for added accents.
The leather looks gorgeous and comes in several different brown hues. There are metal buttons, good magnets, metal protection around the camera plateau, and a Camera Control cover.
This one is great because it comes as a folio. The folio wraps around the leather case but can be taken off when not needed, as it only connects with magnets.
It gives you the best of both worlds, offering a folio with several card slots, on top of a slim, magnetic leather case. You can buy it with or without the folio or even a MagSafe wallet stand.
Buy the Burton Goods leather folio for $119.
Nomad | Rugged Leather case
Nomad makes not one style of leather case, but several. The most durable is its Rugged Leather case.
This style has a bulky, black TPU border with a piece of leather inlaid into the back. It gives you the appearance of a leather case with the protection of a rugged case.
Nomad has strong design chops here with many unique aspects, like the metal buttons with custom knurling, an integrated Camera Control cover, and a soft microfiber lining. Buy yours for $60.
Nomad | Modern Leather case
Slimming down, we have the Modern Leather case. It is similar to the Rugged Leather, but doesn't have as much rubber around the sides and corners. The leather covers the entire back of the case.
This is the one I'd generally recommend for those who want a Nomad case that balances the leather and protection. Buy yours for $60.
Nomad | Modern Leather folio
If you take the Modern Leather case and wrap leather around the front of the phone, you get the Nomad Modern Leather Folio. It's the same case with the folio component.
It still feels very nice, and the folio comes in handy. One unique design element is the removable clasp.
The clasp slides into the pocket on the case to magnetically hold it closed, but can also be removed if you don't want to use it. Buy yours for $87.
Nomad | Traditional Leather case
My favorite of all the Nomad ones is the Traditional Leather case. Instead of just having leather on the back, it is a full-wrap leather case.
It looks stunning, and the leather goes all around the sides like Apple's now-discontinued ones. Combined with the metal accents, it's a lovely choice for a full-leather case.
Andar | Aspen case
Andar's Aspen case is another popular choice. It's thin, elegant, with lovely leather choices that come in several different colors.
The case feels highly precise and looks wonderful. I love all the metal accents, such as around the camera plateau, for this handsome case.
Pick one up from Andar for $59
Woolnut | Scandinavian leather case
Unlike the other leather ones, Woolnut uses a stylish pebbled Scandinavian leather. It isn't so smooth, but instead has a texture to it.
The buttons are color-matched, and there is a Camera Control cover to help complete this cool-looking case. My downside is the move recently to plastic sides instead of a full wrap.
Pick up for $47.20 from Woolnut.
Bullstrap | Leather case
Another great option is from Bullstrap. This one is a full-wrap case, but also extends that wrap to the camera plateau.
This is the only case I've seen that puts leather all around the cameras, which gives you protection while also keeping the full-leather look. The bottom of the case is also open, which I like because it makes it comfortable to hold and provides easy access to the port and speakers.
It has other premium touches like the black metal buttons, a Camera Control cover, and strong MagSafe magnets. Amazon has them for $79
Mujjo | Full leather case
Mujjo is here once again with its leather cases. They are super thin and feel very smooth to the touch.
They have lovely microfiber on the inside, sleek lines, and color-matched metal buttons. I've also used them for years and have always been happy with their quality.
Own one for $47 on Amazon.
Bellroy | Leather case
Bellroy, maker of many fine leather goods, has some great cases. Here is their leather case, which still uses TPU sides like Woolnut.
It's a very high-quality leather that comes in many nice colors. Unlike Woolnut, the leather still covers the sides, which is nice because it gives you that leather feel, but the top, bottom, and corners are plastic, which makes it more durable in a drop.
There are color-matched buttons, a bright white microfiber lining, and an integrated Camera Control cover. I do like that you can get the same style and color of leather on other products from Bellroy, too, for a matching set.
Buy one for yourself from Amazon for $65.
