Apple's New Year sale in Japan once again provides a limited edition AirTag to iPhone buyers, as well as a free Apple gift card.
Like other retailers in the country, Apple marks the new year in Japan with a big sale. As part of the tradition, customers can secure themselves a gift card, and if they buy an iPhone, a specially-engraved AirTag.
Running from January 2nd to January 5th, Apple Japan will provide a gift card worth up to 38,000 yen ($250) to buyers of Apple products from the store. The value changes depending on the product and specification.
Buyers of the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch SE 3, as well as certain accessories, can get an Apple Gift Card worth 8,000 yen with their purchase. Buying AirPods Max, AirPods Pro 3 or AirPods 4 gets customers a card valued at up to 12,000 yen.
The iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad are accompanied by gift cards worth up to 15,000 yen. The MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, and Mac mini line gift cards are valued up to the full 38,000 yen.
However, only buyers of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, or iPhone 16e can get an AirTag as well as a 12,000 yen gift card.
According to the Apple website, the AirTag will be engraved with a Daruma, a traditional Japanese talisman that symbolizes good luck and perseverance. Only 65,000 AirTags with the limited engraving will be available during the sale.
