After a shorter than normal beta testing period, Apple has just rolled out the update for the Apple TV and HomePod.

As is often the case, tvOS 26.3 didn't come with any release notes. These kinds of updates, while they may seem small, are crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of the devices.

The tvOS 26.3 and homePod OS 26.3 build numbers are both 23K620.

While tvOS 26.3 may be centered on stability and bug fixes, tvOS 26 was a fairly substantial update. It introduced the new Liquid Glass redesign, numerous updates to the Music app, and several significant audio updates as well.

Apple also provided a noteworthy upgrade with tvOS 26.2. It brought the long-awaited kids mode to Apple's set-top streaming box, as well as added additional Liquid Glass support for Apple TV 4K models.

Apple uses tvOS to power both its set-top box and its smart speaker lineup. However, it seems increasingly likely that Apple will rename the HomePod operating system to "homeOS."

Many assume Apple is preparing to launch a home hub, which would likely ship with its own dedicated operating system. It's unclear whether that OS would follow the iPadOS-iOS pattern, where one was essentially a lightly modified version of the other for most of its lifespan.
