The sound design team for Apple TV hit "F1: The Movie" picked up one prestigious UK award on Saturday — and another on Sunday.

Continuing its track record of awards, all of those great engine noises in "F1: The Movie" have been acknowledged with two separate wins for its team. On Saturday February 21, 2026, they were honored by the Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) at the Warner Bros offices in London.

"F1" sound team Al Nelson, Gwendolyn Yates Whittle, Gary A. Rizzo, Juan Peralta, Gareth John and Dash Mason-Malik, received the AMPS Excellence in Sound for a Feature Film.

"Receiving this award from AMPS is a huge honour for us," said Gwendolyn Yates Whittle during her speech. "Creating the sound track for F1 was challenging and demanding; a true showcase for what can be achieved through collaboration and a lot of enthusiasm."

"From production to post, our pit crew of sound recordists and editors came together to create cinematic magic," she continued. "Having our work acknowledged by fellow sound professionals is both humbling and deeply rewarding, thank you!"

Then on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the team reconvened south of the River Thames at the Royal Festival Hall to be honored by Bafta.

The Baftas are the UK's equivalent of both the Emmys and the Oscars, with separate ceremonies recognizing film, television, and what it calls craft categories. For its film awards, Apple TV was nominated in four awards for "F1: The Movie" and "The Lost Bus."

"F1" lost out in best editing to "One Battle After Another," while both Apple TV films were beaten in the visual effects category by "Avatar: Fire and Ash." But "F1" won the best sound category, beating

But it won best sound, beating "One Battle After Another," "Frankenstein," "Sinners," and "Warfare."

"An enormous team worked on this movie together, so this award is for all of them," said sound designer Gareth John. "We need to thank our incredible director, Joe Kosinsky, our legendary producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, Apple for their unwavering support. "

"F1" has also been nominated for best sound in the forthcoming Oscars. That nomination is one of four Academy Awards it is in contention for, with the others being visual effects, film editing, and the most prestigious of them all, Best Picture.

The Oscars will be announced on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
