With Tuesday's film Bafta award nominations, Apple TV's smash hit "F1: The Movie" continues its run of awards nominations, with "The Lost Bus" assisting this time.

Following its Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, "F1" has also been acknowledged by the film awards of the UK's British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta). Bafta splits its awards into different categories, with two television ones yet to be announced, so for now, Apple TV has three nominations for "F1: The Movie":

  • Best Editing
  • Best Special Visual Effects
  • Best Sound

Stephen Mirrione, who is the nominee for Best Editing, has now also been nominated in the same category by the American Cinema Editors.

"F1: The Movie" is competing in that editing category with films including "Sinners," and "One Battle After Another." Those same films are also among those in contention for the Best Sound category.

For Best Special Effects, though, "F1" is up against another Apple TV production: "The Lost Bus".

The three nominations for "F1," and one for "The Lost Bus," are all in what are considered the technical film categories. There were none for writing, acting, or directing.

That compares to the Oscars, where "F1: The Movie" is in contention for the overall "Best Picture" award.

Previously, Apple TV has won Bafta Awards for "CODA" — Troy Kotsur as Best Supporting Actor, and Sian Heder for Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2023, Apple and the BBC together won the organization's Best British Animated Short Film for "The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse."

The Bafta Film Awards will be announced at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 22.
