A new rumor claims that Apple's forthcoming iPhone Fold will instead be named the iPhone Ultra, will come alongside more Ultra products, and cost from $1,500.

It's already been rumored that Apple will introduce a new higher-priced tier of products that may be named Ultra. Now a leaker claims to know that one of these will be the iPhone Ultra — previously known as the iPhone Fold.

This leaker, "WayLabs" on Weibo, further says that this iPhone Ultra will be the most expensive iPhone ever sold. He or she claims it will start at over 10,000 yuan (around $1,500) and its top specification will exceed 20,000 yuan (approximately $3,000). That sounds about right to us, and is a rerun.

The leaker's text appears to be in response to prior reports of an iPhone Ultra. Whether those are from the supply chain or other as-yet unknown sources, WayLabs starts by saying the iPhone Ultra is not a further new model, but instead the iPhone Fold's new name.

At the same time, this leaker claims that Apple is also aiming to launch AirPods Ultra with infrared cameras, which does fit with previous reports.

Then, too, the leaker says there will be a MacBook Ultra. This is claimed to be a touch-screen OLED MacBook Pro, which again does back up previous reports.

The last point the leaker makes is that, allegedly, Apple is trying to raise the price of its entire product line by a large margin. That certainly fits with Apple's typical pricing approach, and eschewing the expected name iPhone Fold would not be unusual, either.

What was expected to be the iPhone 17 Slim, for instance, became the iPhone 17e. Instead of an Apple Stylus, we got the Apple Pencil.

Nonetheless, WayLabs is such a new leaker that there is no way to measure his or her accuracy. The sole previous rumor from this leaker came in February 2026, with a claim concerning camera improvements in the iPhone 18 Pro.

The fact that the leaker is new isn't sufficient to say that this rumor can't be correct. But coming after other reports of an Ultra tier from Apple, it could just as easily be guesswork.

Those previous reports of an Ultra tier do not say that Apple will put that word in the name of its products. But it does mean that Apple is looking at higher-price and higher-specification products.

Only, that would mean that this iPhone Ultra would be positioned above the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. It's at least likely that it will be priced above those, but it's practically impossible that a thin iPhone Fold could exceed those models in any other specification beyond the folding screen.
