The OS 26.4 release has arrived with various features related to RCS and Apple Music, but Apple Vision Pro gets a specific upgrade with the addition of Nvidia CloudXR support.

One of the key problems with Apple Vision Pro is its lack of software support. Apple has a serious developer relations problem with the platform, but the visionOS 26.4 update could help address the lack of software.

Apple has released visionOS 26.4 to the public, and with it, support for Nvidia CloudXR 6.0. It enables the ability for users to stream compatible games and software from a Mac or PC to Apple Vision Pro.

One developer has already announced support for the feature via the flight simulator X-Plane 12. It allows users to stream the simulator to Apple Vision Pro while taking advantage of systems like ARKit and foveated streaming.

There isn't any word yet about what specs are needed to execute this system at a high enough resolution and frame rate via a stream. It'll also be interesting to see how Apple and developers will solve for latency.

The visionOS 26.4 update will install automatically if automatic updates are enabled. If you'd like to install the update immediately, go to Settings -> General -> Software Update.
