Netflix has decided to raise its prices again in a time when customers are already feeling the squeeze everywhere else.

Netflix is continuing its trend of yearly price hikes, with the company set to hike prices for U.S.-based customers in the coming weeks. The previous price hike came in January 2025.

This time around, all three plans are getting price hikes. Here's what customers can expect to pay, as detailed by the Netflix Pricing Plan help page.

  • Standard, with ads: $8.99 per month, up $1 from $7.99
  • Standard, no ads: $19.99 per month, up $2 from $17.99
  • Premium Plan: $26.99, up $2 from $24.99

New subscribers will already need to pay the increased prices as of Thursday, March 26. Netflix hasn't officially told existing customers when the price hike is set to take place, but it generally gives customers a one month warning.

The new cost of subscribing to Netflix

Not-so-nice guy Netflix

Netflix has been consistently raising prices for its customers over the last few years. At times, it's even gone as far as forcing customers into more expensive plans by eliminating options altogether.

As previously mentioned, the company last raised prices in January 2025. It justified the move to investors by saying it wanted to increase viewership in areas where it operated.

In January 2024, Netflix finally discontinued a popular ad-free legacy plan. It had initially allowed existing subscribers to keep the plan in 2023, but removed the option for new subscribers.

Netflix has also cracked down on password sharing in recent years. The effort came after the company began seeing slowed growth but increased watch time during the pandemic.
