Leakers are jumping on rumors that the iPhone 18 will introduce a smaller Dynamic Island, this time supplying images supposedly showing the punch-out.
The Dynamic Island is a software element designed to hide the in-screen holes for the TrueDepth camera array. Many rumors have claimed that it will be smaller for the iPhone 18, as Apple works to make the screen as clear of interruptions as possible.
While it's one thing to claim that there will be a smaller Dynamic Island, a group of leakers used the weekend to try and "show" it. All thanks to a bunch of photographs posted to X.
The latest round of claims stems from a relatively unknown leaker, "Early Apple Leaks," who posted an image to X on March 27. That shot shows the top section of a smartphone, complete with a smaller Dynamic Island.
The leaker insists that it is one of the iPhone 18 Pro models, and that the base models will have the same cut-out.
Able to share this now.

First look at iPhone 18 Pros shrunken Dynamic Island.
Stay the same on base models. pic.twitter.com/ocVMQLU6sw
The image itself shows what looks like an iPhone display with the Dynamic Island seemingly smaller than usual. A flash is used to illuminate as much of the display, clearly showing where the cut-out section is near the top.
Another leaker, Majin Bu, chimed in with their own analysis of the image, pointing out that the infrared sensor has shifted into the top-left corner of the display. This refers to a circle that appears to be under the display in that corner.
This would be plausible way for Apple to make the Dynamic Island smaller, since the emitter is more easily placed under the display. Anything receiving light, such as an infrared sensor or a normal camera sensor, are much harder to place under the light-emitting display.
iPhone 18 series bezel are the same as iPhone 17 and iPhone 16.

Another leaker, Ice Universe, brought their own image to the party, seemingly showing a much smaller pair of holes in the display. While normally there's one hole for the camera on the right and a larger pill shape for the infrared elements, one screen is shown to have a much smaller pill section.
Questionable sources
While the shots certainly are interesting and feed into the idea of Apple using a smaller Dynamic Island, it is worth remembering where these leaks come from.
In general, social media leakers don't have the best reputation, and they are likely sourcing information from another unreliable source — the screen protector supply chain. With a need to increase their following all the time, the accounts tend to regurgitate threads and details from elsewhere, often with no regard to fact checking.
When it comes to the group of leakers, Ice Universe is the most trustworthy, but sporadically accurate. By contrast, the Early Apple Leaks account has only existed since October 2025, and therefore, does not have any real track record as of yet.
Majin Bu is the most well-known of the trio, and has been accurate occasionally in the past. However, they also tried to capitalize on the account's popularity by trying to sell iPhone 17 cases months before the actual launch.
There have been quite a few previous reports covering the rumored Dynamic Island shrink, which does help the images appear more genuine. However, as always, there's no guarantee that the Dynamic Island is actually shrinking until Apple formally launches its products in the fall.
