It could be wishful thinking, but a tiny new leak appears to suggest that Apple will shrink the Dynamic Island on every iPhone 18.
Since the very day the iPhone X was launched with its Face ID notch, there have been rumors that Apple will switch to an all-screen display with no visible cutouts. The company is surely working toward this, but the most recent claims have focused on how it might reduce the current Dynamic Island.
Now according to leaker Ice Universe, that smaller Dynamic Island is definitely coming to the iPhone 18.
In translation, the short snippet says that "the iPhone 18 series retains the same black bezels as before; only the Dynamic Island has been made smaller." It does go on to say that the "bezel design is identical to that of the iPhone 17 series," but there is no further detail.
There's also no further clarification, so especially as this is machine translated from Chinese, it may not mean every iPhone 18 model gets the smaller Dynamic Island. It may mean only that the range includes some models with this.
That would better fit Apple's usual move of bringing a significant improvement first to the Pro models of the iPhone. It would also fit leaker Ice Universe's previous claim that only the iPhone 18 Pro would see this change.
It's also been previously reported that the expected iPhone Fold will not have room for a Face ID system. That could still mean that every iPhone 18 has the feature, but it wouldn't be every iPhone being released in 2026.
But then there is also the economy of scale to consider, as well as a simpler supply chain, if the same Dynamic Island components were used on all models.
Ice Universe has proven to be sporadically accurate before. The overall claim that there will be a reduced Dynamic Island, though, is also backed up by very many other reports.
