The Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station is a fantastic portable charger that is MagSafe-compatible, delivering up to 25W of power to your iPhone, while simultaneously charging your AirPods and Apple Watch.

With the launch of Qi2.2, we've started to see a trickle of chargers that have embraced the latest standard. Anker, which already launched a highly-praised Qi2.2 desktop charger, is now out with a foldable version.

If you have a recent iPhone that supports the faster Qi2.2 standard, like the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 17 series, or iPhone Air, this may be the companion device you're looking for to hit the road with.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: Design

Compared to others, the new Anker Prime 3-in-1 is designed to be compact and portable. It's an ideal travel charger that can slip into a pocket or tech pouch.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: The new charger is perfectly palm-sized

I'd describe it best as "palm-sized." It's smaller than Anker's previous folding travel charger by a good amount and smaller than ESR's 25W folding travel charger.

The charger comes in two colors: a dark Phantom Gray and a light Radiant White. Here, I tested the gray option.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: You can charge iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch

On the front of the charger is the silicone-covered magnetic charging puck. It has the simple Qi2 25W logo printed in the center.

The build quality is exceptional. It feels dense and hefty, in a good way, which suggests a quality piece of tech that's going to withstand the wear and tear of travel.

When opened, which can range from a closed 0-degree angle to a fully open 60-degree angle, it's just tall enough for Apple's iPhone 17 Pro Max to fit without hitting the table below.

Like any other MagSafe-compatible charger, your phone can rotate. That allows it to work great vertically or horizontally.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: Putting your phone sideways will allow it to enter StandBy mode

I prefer it in landscape mode, which can automatically switch to StandBy mode. It's fantastic for showing a clock, a photo gallery, or a few widgets.

When open, you can pop open the Apple Watch puck. It has a fantastic push-push style mechanism to release the Apple Watch puck and fold it up, which again has great physical feedback.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: Your Apple Watch can charge on the back

If not in use, the watch charger can be cleanly folded out of sight. Below that is the tertiary charging pad, perfect for any small device like a set of AirPods or AirPods Pro.

The USB-C power cable juts out the back, easily routing away from the charger. Anker includes a 45W power adapter and a standard USB-C to USB-C cable in the box.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: Side view of Anker's tiny charger

I'd have preferred a braided cable from Anker, but it's fine. I have more of a grievance with the charger.

I find it mildly odd that Anker would include a power brick in the box for a travel charger but not allow it to collapse the prongs. Maybe it just wants you to pay and upgrade to its new 45W Nano charger it just launched.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: Charging performance

What I think is just as important as the design is the charging performance, perhaps even more so than a home desktop charger. When you're traveling, you may not have time to sit and wait for your devices to charge.

I know that when my partner and I go on vacation, we want to explore as much as possible. So when we get back to the hotel room, I may only have a brief chance to charge up my iPhone and Apple Watch before running back out.

Fortunately, that is where the new Qi 2.2 standard comes into play. Compared to Qi2, version 2.2 unlocks up to 25W of power instead of only 15W.

In the right conditions, it is enough to charge an iPhone 17 Pro to 50 percent in only 26 minutes. A 15W charger may take 35 minutes to hit 50%.

For optimal charging, those conditions aren't always easy to meet. With faster charging, you always have to worry about heat.

Anker solves this by adding AirCool fan-cooling technology to keep the temperature down. That will ensure you get the fastest possible speeds that don't get hindered by rising temperatures on the charger or the phone.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: There is a small fan hidden behind the charger

Lower temperatures offer numerous benefits, from improved long-term battery health to faster charging. If you were using your phone while it was charging, that temperature would easily start to climb without a fan.

This micro fan sits just below the charging pad and pushes air toward the back of the phone. You can see the vent, hidden under the Apple Watch puck.

When on, the fan is very quiet. I could barely hear it in my studio, though I imagine sensitive sleepers could hear it when in a silent hotel room.

Fortunately, Anker has a solution for this, too. Located on the right-hand side by the Prime logo is a small circle.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: Tapping this button controls the fan

This is a touch-sensitive button that you can tap to see the fan status. Double-tap it to turn the fan on or off, with a blue light signaling active cooling and a white light representing silent mode.

I'm very impressed with the charging speeds here, from the 25W charging for iPhone to fast charging for Apple Watch. I don't need the third AirPods charger, they can charge on the MagSafe or Apple Watch pucks. Still, it's nice to have the option.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: Should I buy it?

Full price, the Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station is a bit high, but Anker devices regularly go on sale. Even at the launch, it is 20% off, making it much more reasonable.

Right now, the market is near-absent of competition that does what Anker does with its travel charger. 25W travel charges are few and far between, and there is only one other on the market that offers active cooling to maintain those as-advertised speeds.

The competition with active cooling is priced at $99 at the time of this review, while Anker's is at $119. Anker has a smaller footprint and a notably better build quality and feel, which I think helps justify that premium.

Between the sleek, compact design, fast charging speeds, and active cooling, Anker knocked it out of the park with this charger. If you want the fastest possible speeds while traveling, this is the perfect device.

Anker Prime 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station review: This charger is compact and fast. Perfect for traveling.

You absolutely can get a wireless charger for less. You could opt for a larger one, one without active cooling, one with lower top speeds, or just use a cable that will all yield the same result in the end: a full charge on your devices.

It just becomes a question of what priorities you have for a charger. A top-of-the-line charger without competition, like it or not, comes with a higher price to match.

Personally, speed and performance are my top priorities for a portable charger when time to power my gear is hampered by vacation activities. Considering the few alternatives, this stands out in a crowded market as a premium device.

With plenty of spring and summer travel approaching, this is a great accessory to add to your kit that meshes perfectly with Apple's latest devices.
