Apple's 20th-anniversary iPhone is again rumored to have a new, curved display with Samsung now tipped to produce the "four-micro-curve" OLED panel.
Apple is expected to pull out all the stops for the iPhone 20 to celebrate 20 years of the iPhone. The iPhone X did something similar for its 10th anniversary, ditching the Home button and minimizing display bezels.
With its 20th-anniversary iPhone, Apple is expected to go a step further and bend the display around all four sides of the device. Now, Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station reports that Apple has tapped Samsung to produce curved displays for the device.
While displays that wrap around the edge of a phone aren't new, it appears Apple's approach will be slightly different. And it could avoid some of the accidental taps and the uncomfortable feel of those devices as a result.
Four micro curves
According to the report, via machine translation, Apple is now working with Samsung to develop a "slightly curved" display with a "four-micro-curve form factor." If accurate, this approach could mean the iPhone 20 will have less dramatic curves than similar devices, like those made by Samsung.
Such an approach would likely make the iPhone 20 easier to hold while reducing distortion and accidental taps.
The report also notes that Samsung is working to develop a "pol-less" display for the iPhone 20. Such a display would not use the polarizing layer that is usually attached to OLED displays.
This tallies with a report from September 2025, which hinted at Apple's plans to use Color Filter on Encapsulation (COE) technology. Such technology would allow the display to be thinner, brighter, and use less power.
While the iPhone 20 is still a long way from being announced, it seems increasingly likely it will bring notable changes to the lineup. But there's plenty to look forward to between now and then.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max this September. The iPhone Fold is also set to finally break cover after years of rumors.
