"Schmigadoon!" has had a successful post-Apple TV career on Broadway, picking up 12 nominations at the 2026 Tony Awards.

Apple may have pulled the plug on "Schmigadoon!" in early 2024, but it's still reaping the rewards of this popular show. While it was canceled on Apple TV after two seasons, and with a third one already written, the show got a stage adaptation in 2025 and eventually debuted on Broadway in 2026.

The Broadway production is co-produced by Apple TV and is inspired by the series that bears its name. And, apparently, it's done quite well, as it's landed a record 12 nominations at the 2026 Tony Awards.

Most notably, it's up for Best Musical. But the nominations don't stop there; it's also nominated for:

  • Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, Sara Chase
  • Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical, Ana Gasteyer
  • Best Direction of a Musical, Christopher Gattelli
  • Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre, Music & Lyrics, Cinco Paul
  • Best Book of a Musical, Cinco Paul
  • Best Orchestrations, Doug Besterman and Mike Morris
  • Best Choreography, Christopher Gattelli
  • Best Sound Design of a Musical, Walter Trarbach
  • Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Donald Holder
  • Best Costume Design of a Musical, Linda Cho
  • Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Scott Pask

The 2026 Tony Awards will be announced at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 7.

Before it moved from the small screen to the big stage, "Schmigadoon!" still managed to pick up some prestigious awards. In 2022, the series scored a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for "Corn Puddin'," from the show's pilot episode.

In 2021, the series snagged a nomination for a Critics Choice TV award. Broadway veteran Kristen Chenoweth was up for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

"Schmigadoon!" was honored with a spot on the American Film Institute's "Television Programs of the Year" list.
