iTunes sells 200 million TV shows, adds new HD TV lineup

Apple announced Thursday that all four of the major US television networks are offering primetime programs in high definition on the iTunes Store, which has become the world's most popular online TV service with over 200 million episodes sold, including more than one million HD episodes purchased since last month.

One analyst has tied an Infineon profit warning to "delays" with Apple's 3G iPhone ramp. Meanwhile, the UK and Canadian versions of the iTunes Store will soon serve up feature films. And Apple is among a handful of US companies who've filed a grievance with the WTO over steep European tariffs.

Apple launches TV programming on iTunes Store France

Apple announced Thursday that hit television programming from France's top networks including TF1, France Televisions, Arte, Mediatoon's Dargaud TV and Dupuis TV, along with hit US shows from The Walt Disney Company and MTV Networks is now available on the iTunes Store in France.

Apple is hiring for an iTunes TV show manager in France, confirming an upcoming rollout. Also, rumors have surfaced of a .Mac update to match new iPhone software; shortages of the device have returned to New York City; and mentions of free AT&T Wi-Fi have disappeared once again from the carrier's web pages.

Also, Caris & Company has raised its estimates for Apple; Piper Jaffray sees Vodafone as having no iPhone exclusives; iTunes France may be the next to have a full-fledged video store; and yet another alleged 3G iPhone photo has appeared at AppleInsider's door.
